POSSESSION
I HAVE, SHE HAS
When we talk things that we own or can use we use the verb have.
We use have when we are talking about the subjects: I, you, we, they.
For He/She/it. like other verbs, we have to add an "s" so have
becomes has.
Lets see what that looks like.
We start with the subject and then we add "have" plus the noun.
Subject Have Nouns
I have a pen
You Have a car
He/she/it Has a dog
We Have bikes
They Have coffee
When we want to use it in the negative we have to add the verb to do in its
negative form and have/has. Notice that the "s" added to he/she/it moves to
the to do verb instead of have/has
Subject To do + not have Noun
I do not have a coat
You do not have chocolate
He/she/it does not have a book
We do not have tea
They do not have cookies
Pro tip: You can use the contraction don't
instead of did not to sound more fluent
POSSESSION
I HAVE, SHE HAS
If we want to make it a question we can put the verb to do in
front of the subject. It will look something like this:
To do Subject Have Noun
do I have a map?
do You have a glass?
does He/she/it have a car?
do We have an umbrella?
do They have a pencil?
Notice that the "s" stays on the to do verb in the question form.
We can also use it in the past tense as well. We make this by putting have in
it's past form. It will look something like this:
Subject Have - Past Noun
I had lunch
you had a party
He/She/It had a bath
We had a book
They had an umbrella
Now that you know how to use have for possession, how many ways
can you think to use it in a sentence?
