ABSTRACT
The study about effectiveness of Banana peel extract and Onion peel extract to the
growth and yield of Eggplant aims to determine what is the most effective variable for
the growth and yield of an Eggplant. Moreover, the research design used in this study is
experimental. The study was conducted in Supang National High School. The
researchers compare the growth and yield of an Eggplant watered by Banana peel
extract and Onion peel extract. The researchers find out that the two variable are both
effective but then the Banana peel extract is the most effective as an organic fertilizer.

A banana is a delicious fruit, and it's botanical name is Berry. It produced in
various kinds of large Herbaceous flowering plants. This fruit is variable in size, color,
like green, yellow, red, brown (when ripe) and purple. Banana consists of fleshy outer
peel which can be removed to expose the yellow flesh. The scientific name of banana is
"Miss Acuminata" it can be consumed directly in fruits salads, juice, and milkshakes.
Banana is used to make fiber, and banana wine (https://www.qoura.com). Banana are
healthy source of fiber, potassium, vitamin B6, vitamins C and various antioxidants and
phytonutrients (https:www.healthline.com).
Onion is the common name for the herbaceous, cold season plant Alloy Cops,
which is characterized by a edible rounded bulb compose of concentric fleshy, right,
packed and enlarge leaf bases. Onion is also used for cooking in any cuisine
(https://www.newworldencyclopedia.org). Onion are excellent sources of Vitamin C,
Sulphuric compounds, flavonoids and phytochemicals.
Eggplant is the common name for a personal plant, Deplaning melongena, of the
potato or night shape family solonaceae, characterized by large leaves, white to purple
flowers and color also a yellow stameus with numerous Sman seeds. The name also
used for the freshly, edible of this plant. The plant and fruits also are known as
aubergine and (https://www.newworldencyclopedia.org).
The researchers found that one of the problems in the community are the
creeping growth of the plant caused scarcity of food. To know the solution for this
problem, the researchers will have an experiment on the effectiveness of Onion (Alluim
Cepa) peel and banana (Musa Acuminata) peel as an alternative organic fertilizer for
the growth and yield of eggplant (Solanum Melongena).

Objectives of the Study
This study aims to determine the effectiveness of onion ( Allium cepa) extract and
banana (Musa acuminata) extract on the growth and yield of eggplant ( Solanum
melongena).
Specifically, it seems to answer the following questions.
1. To determine the effectiveness of banana(Musa Acuminata) extract and
Onion(alluim Cepa) extract as an organic fertilizer on the growth and yield of
eggplant (Solanum Melongena).
2. The significant difference of banana ( musa acuminata)and onion (Allium cepa)
extract on the growth and yield of eggplant(Solanum melongena).

1. There is no significant effect to the growth and yield of eggplant as an organic
fertilizer make use of banana and onion peel extract.
2.There is no significant difference using the onion peel and banana peel extract to the
growth and yield of eggplant.
Significance of the Study
This study will be beneficial to the following:
Local Government Unit (LGU). This study will help farmers to gain knowledge and
to save money when it comes to the expenses.
Department of Agriculture. This study will help people and share techniques to the
farmersto lessen the expenses in agriculture.
Teachers. This study will help teachers to educate their students on the use of
alternative organic fertilizer in school.
Parents. This study will help them to lessen expenses on Commercial fertilizer that
they usually use.

Definition of Terms
Banana. A long curved fruit that grows in cluster and has soft pulpy flesh and has soft
pulpy flesh and yellow skin when ripe. The tropical and subtropical tree like plant that
bears this fruit has very large leaves and resembles a palm (Merriam Webster 2019)
- it is a delicious fruit that usually people can eat, more of potassium and
vitamins.
Onion-The plant produces the onion, with long rolled or straplike leaves and spherical
head of greenish -white flowers. (Merriam Webster 2019)

Chapter II
REVIEW OF RELATED LITERATURE
Banana
According to Anderson banana peels can be an alternative fertilizer and a good
insecticide to the plants found in the lawns. This will create a good and big help to the
household with more plants since there are no more insects found in the plants, and it
will also give potassium to the soil, making the soil fertilize.
(Anderson,2009)
Banana peels can also be used in smoking through its substance, bananadine. It
is a psychoactive tryptamine chemically related LSD and DMT and it has a carbon atoms
Banana peelings have a number of positive attributes, which make them suitable
as an animals feed and as an alternative complementary feed during periods of forage
shortage. They have high moisture content, which helps animals to stay hydrated.
Banana peelings are also a good source of minerals, especially in potassium

(Anwange,2008) and have a fiber content (HappiEmagaet al, 2011). In comparison to
many grass species, that has a NDF fractions (NRC, 2001), banana peelings have a
lower fiber content, which gives an improved digestibility and subsequently an elevated
intake compared those of grasses (Nambi – kasozi , 2008).
According to Anderson, banana peels can be an alternative fertilizer and a good
insecticide to the plants found in the lawns. The banana peels will be a natural
insecticide, which can be non-toxic to humans and pets and safe for the environment
(Permasofty 2012).Reader's digest once suggested that aphidiufected lawns and
gardens should bury dried-up banana peels since it kills or ferminates the insects found
in anybody's lawns. (Reader's Digest, 2012)
Onion
According to Shri (2010) Alluim Cepa, apotent antioxidant, is one of the richest
sources of flavonoids and organosulphur compound such as antrocyanin .Garlic and
Onion extracts have been reported to possess anticarcinogenic activity. They are
reported to have significant antimutagenic activities in the bladder ,brain ,breast
,colon ,lungs ,ovary and stomach cancers. Both have antimicrobrian activity including
antibacterial,antifungal,antiparasitic and antiviral actions.

Onion is somewhat a genetic that refers to several pungent members of the genus
Alluim (Lilaceae family) including common (bulbous) onion, garlic, leek and others. The
world was derived from the Middle English union which means "one" or "unity" and
refers to the onion's single bulb consisting of concentric rings. The pungency of onions
is due to volatile sulfur compounds (thiosulfinates) which in turn are produced from
sulfur-containing flavor precensors released when onion cells are raptured or cut.
Onion is thought to have ariginated more than 500 years ago in Central Asia and is one
of the most ancient of food sources. It's consumption by humans can be traced back to
the Bronze Age. A staple in the diet of many civilizations, it was especially important in
ancient Egypt. In addition to being consumed as afood. Egyptians worshipped, onion
thinking it's concentric rings symbolized enternal life indeed.

Eggplant
Eggplant solanum melongena L (also known as brinjal and aubergine) is one of the
most important inexpensive and popular vegetable crops grown and consumed in Asia
in the Philippines, eggplant production accounts for more than 30% of the total volume
of production of the most important vegetables in the country. Eggplant production
provides an important source of cash income, particularly for small resources -poor
farmers. The biggest constraints to eggplant production throughout Asia OS the chronic
and widespread inferstation by the eggplant fruit and shoot bover. (EF SB).

METHODOLOGY
Research Design
This study uses experimental Research Design which is one of the most powerful
research methodologies. Experimental research design is the most conclusive of
scientific methods. The researchers actually establish different treatments and then
studies their effects, result from this type of research are likely to lead to the most clear
- cut interpretations. (Fraenkel, Wallen and Hyun, 2012).
Setting of the study
This study will be conducted in Supang National High School Supang, Buenavista,
Guimaras. The materials and equipment for the experiment was gathered also in
Supang, Buenavista, Guimaras. Those important materials are onion, banana and
eggplant that will be using in experiment.

Procedure:
Step1: Prepare the materials, pour the water into the two 1 liter bottle.
Step2: Separate the bottle and labeled them.
Step3: Put the onion Peel on bottle 1 and set aside make sure to cover the bottle
before you set aside.
Step4: Put the banana Peel on the bottle 2 and same to the bottle 1 male sure to cover
it before to set Aside.
Step5: wait until one day
Step6: Open the bottles and strain it to separate the extract and the Peel.
Step7: Separate the extract of onion and banana to test the effectiveness of the
product pour the extract into the plant.

Analysis
Our study is about the effectiveness of Onion peel extract and Banana peel extract to
the growth and yield of Eggplant. As to observed researchers separate the eggplant by
group of 2 and each group composed of soil with a same level. The following are used
in our experiment; Banana peel extract , Onion peel extract , water ,measuring
tools(ruler and Graduated cylinder). To measure the length or height of eggplant using
the ruler to know the every level of eggplant from 1-10 days. As the result of our
experiment, researchers found out that Banana peel extract is more Effective as an
organic fertilizer than to Onion peel extract. On table below will Figure the Days that
the reaserchers observed the Growth of eggplant

In this table shows that there are 3 eggplant used in every component for the
experiment. Moreover the table also reflect that their are days that the eggplant doesn't
grow up remain on its height but, there are also times that the eggplant increase its
height higher than the other groups of eggplant. Furthermore,on the table include that
Banana peel extract is more effective in the growth and yield of eggplant than Onion
peel extract.

In order to test the effectiveness of Banana peel extract and Onion peel extract to
the growth and yield of eggplant the researchers conducted their study. Our goals in
this study is to prove the effectiveness of Banana peel extract as an organic fertilizer
and aims to know what is the most effective between the two variable.
Making this study is not easy for the researchers, It needs to be patience and
courage in observing the effect of two Independent variable to the Growth and yield of
eggplant. In order to measure its growth the researchers a procedure to process the
experiment, therefore it was easy for them to established their experiment. Moreover,
the researchers used measuring tools to know the level of Eggplant, to know the
accurate amount of Banana extract and onion extract To water the plant.
Furthermore, the result of our study reflect that both banana extract and onion
extract has an effect on the growth and yield of an eggplant. The findings also shows
that there is significant difference on thegrowth and an eggplant watered by Banana
extract and Onion extract. In addition the result also reflected that eggplant watered by
banana extract grows faster within 10 days. [(5cm ,7.6cm),(5cm,10.2cm),(5cm ,
8.5cm)] than eggplant watered by onion extract [(4cm, 7.7cm),(4cm, 6.5cm),(5cm,
6.6cm)]

This study aims to prove the effectiveness of Banana peel extract and Onion peel
extract as an organic fertilizer. Furthermore, tostudy the significant difference among
the two independent variable. As stated earlier, the findings explained that both Banana
peelextract and Onion peel extract affect the growth and yeild of an eggplant. Thus,
Banana peel extract is more effective oraganice fertilizer than onion peel extract in the
growth of an eggplant.
Recommendation:
1. The researchers would like to recommend further that Banana peel extract can
be used as an organic fertizer in the future.
2. The researchers would like to recommend if anyone thinking to make a organic
fertilizer They must have proper research and try to asked someone that has an
experience in making fertilizer,because not anyone will be successful for their
experiment.
3. Be also sure tohave a complete materials needed to make an experiment
successfully.
4.The researchers recommend to conduct the same study using other variables
