Dear Lord, at the time of death we may not be able to remember Your name, form and
qualities due to stumbling, hunger, falling down, yawning or being in a miserable
diseased condition because of high fever. We therefore pray unto You, O Lord, for
You are very affectionate to Your devotees. Please help us remember You and utter
Your holy names, attributes and activities, which can dispel all the reactions of
our sinful lives

My Dear Lord, I have simply wasted my privileges of human form of life. This life
was meant for understanding Krsna Consciousness and the pastimes of Lord Krsna with
Radharani, but I did not take care of this important business of life. Therefore I
have not only wasted my valuable time, but also I have willingly drunk poison for
committing suicide. My heart is always in blazing fire because of my association
with material sense enjoyment, and I did not fix up my mind in the Krsna
Consciousness movement which is imported directly from the Kingdom of God. This
Krsna Consciousness movement is inaugurated by Lord Caitanya and Lord Nityananda
Who are Krsna and Balarama respectively. They have descended very kindly to reclaim
all fallen souls of this age of whom the typical examples are the two brothers
Jagai and Madhai. Now, forgetting all mistakes that I have committee. in my past
life, I humbly surrender unto You, my Lord Krsna the Son of Nanda Maharaja, and
also to Srimati Radharani the daughter of King Vrsabhanu. So both of You are
present together, and I fully surrender unto You. Please do not reject me as I have
no other shelter except Yourselves.
devotional song, Narottama dāsa Ṭhākura sings, "My dear Lord Caitanya, please have
mercy upon me. There is no one who is as merciful as You. My plea is most urgent
because Your mission is to deliver all fallen souls, and no one is more fallen than
I. Therefore I beg priority."
I will do what is favorable for pure bhakti and will reject what
is unfavorable for bhakti. That is my vow. The Lord is my
protector. I have faith that jñāna-yoga and other processes cannot
accomplish this. I gain nothing by my own actions: I cannot
protect myself. I will serve the Lord to the best of my ability. He
will protect and nourish me. This is my conviction. Who am I?
I am his and I do my actions by his desire. That is how I offer
myself (ātmā-nivedana). I am worthless and miserable.

anyābhilāṣitā-śūnyaṁ jñāna-karmādy-anāvṛtam
ānukūlyena kṛṣṇānu-śīlanaṁ bhaktir uttamā
The highest bhakti is defined as continuous service or emotions
directed towards Kṛṣṇa, his expansion forms or others related
to him, with a favourable attitude towards Kṛṣṇa. It should be
devoid of desires other than the desire to please the Lord, and
unobstructed by impersonal jñāna, the materialistic rituals of
karma or other unfavorable acts. (BRS 1.1.11)
“In this sūtra, the svarūpa-lakṣaṇa and taṭastha-lakṣaṇa are
clearly described. The word uttamā-bhakti means pure bhakti.
Bhakti contaminated with jñāna or karma is not pure bhakti. In
bhakti contaminated with karma the goal is material enjoyment.
In bhakti contaminated with jñāna, the goal is liberation. Bhakti
devoid of desrie for enjoyment and liberation is uttamā. When
Abhidheya 313
one takes support of this bhakti, one attains prīti as the result.33
“What is this bhakti? The svarūpa-lakṣaṇa of bhakti is activities
of cultivating a relationship with Kṛṣṇa, through body, mind
and words and an emotional state filled with affection. These
activities and the bhāva (emotion) are executed constantly with
a favorable attitude. By Kṛṣṇa’s and devotees’ mercy, when a
special function of the svarūpa-śakti of the Lord, within the jīva’s
own śakti manifests, the svarūpa of bhakti manifests.
“The jīva’s body, words and mind in the present condition are
