About Hyderabad

Hyderabad city is the capital city of the Indian state of Telangana. The city has an estimated
population of around 8 million, making it 4th largest city in India. Hyderabad is the sixth
populous metropolitan in India. Hyderabad city is known for its rich history, food and its multi-
lingual culture, both geographically and culturally. Iris founded in the year 1591 by fifth Qutb
Shahi Ruler Muhammad Quli Qutb Shah.

The original city of Hyderabad was founded on the banks of river Musi. Now known as the
historic old city, home to the Charminar, Falaknuma Palace, Chowmohallah Palace and Makkah
Masjid, it lies on the southern bank of the river. Hyderabad is also called the city of Pearls. It is a
land where multi religious people practicing Islam, Zoroastrianism, Christianity, Jainism and Hinduiss
have co existed with peace for years. It is an emerging Bio-Technology & IT (Information
Technology) hub of India.

The principle languages spoken in Hyderabad are English, Urdu, Telugu and Hindi. In India the
city has always had the largest Urdu speaking population. Hyderabadi Biryani is the most
famous dish of Hyderabad. Others include Pheni (sweet eaten during Diwali), Haleem and paya
(meat eaten by Muslims during Ramadan) Sheer Kurma, Double ka Mitha and Qubani ka Mitha.
Osmania biscuit and Irani Chai are also famous.

Charminar is the major landmark in the city with 4 graceful minarets. Makkah Masjid is a
famous mosque built by stone towards the southwest part of Charminar. It is famous for its royal
splendor, architecture and size. It is one of the most beautiful Masjid in the city. RFC or Ramoji
Film City (opened in 1996) is also very famous landmark of the city. It is the world largest film
studio which is spread over 2,000 acres of land. RFC is also the most famous recreation and
tourism centre in Asia.

Hyderabad experiences a tropical wet and dry climate, bordering on hot and semi-arid. The mean
temperature throughout the year is 26.6 °C. Summers start in March and end in June,
characterised by a hot and humid weather. The temperatures often reach higher than 40 °C,
during this season. From July to September, there are heavy rains in the city, due to the south-
west summer monsoon. This increases the humidity levels. The weather cools down a bit in the
months of October and November, before the onset of winter in December, which ends in
February. During winters, the weather is quite pleasant and the temperature never hits lower than
10 °C.

Hyderabad is a beautiful city known for its joy and love. The residents of the city have intrinsic
goodness and charm. This is the reason Hyderabad is famous for its Hospitality. The unique
feature of the city is that it follows both the ancient cultures and high tech economy.
