With reference to the above, the following
Preliminary remarks to be rectified for further processing.
1. The minimum dimension required in the stem tip at the top is 200mm
instead 300mm. Hence provide 200mm. (cover in stem shall be 50mm)
2. The Base slab width to toe width shall be in the ratio 3:1.
3. The angle made by the pressure face with horizontal is not
considered in the calculation of co-efficient of active earth pressure.
4. The value of wall friction shall be taken as 2/3 angle of repose
5. In the stability analysis (sliding), Pressures to be considered up to the
bottom of footing in addition with surcharge load case to be considered.
6. Stem reinforcement shall be curtailed to 50% beyond its required
height.
7. The pressure on soil shall be in the range of 15 to 20 t/m2, shall be
tabulated with respect to the height.
8. It’s been a standard drawing for the road approaches, the size of stem
and base slab shall be optimized.
9. Earth pressure and surcharge shall be calculated separately, as the
lever arms are different for the 2 cases.
10. In the calculation of base pressure, the weight of surcharge is not
taken into account.
