Typical Tone Ringor The AG ringing vollage appears across the TIP and RING inputs of the circuit and is altenuated by capacitor (C;) and resistor (F,). C, also provides isolation from DC voltages (48V) on the line. After full wave rectlication by the bridge, the waveform is filtered by capacitor (C,) to provide a DC sypply for Tone Finger chip. As this vottage exceeds the initiation voltage Vecaw oscillation starts. With the components shown, the output frequency chops between fy and fy at a fyrale. The loudspeaker load is coupled through a 13000 to 8A transformer. To prevent OC power supply regulation problems due to high source impedance of the telephone line and coupling components C, and R, while the output impedance Of the $001 circuit is qutie low, the load impedaned must be kept fairly high. The output coupling capa itor (C,) is required with wransformer coupled loads, The variable resistor (P,) is used to acjust the audio amplitude and resistor (A,) is @ current imiting resistor. Resistor Fy is a quenching resisior used to limit back emt generated by the inductive load when ringing stops. When driving a plezo-ceramic transducer type load, the coupling capacitor (C,) is not required. However, a current limiting resistor ig cequired as 's a 29V zener diode in parallel with the transducer. This diode limits the voltage transients than can be ‘generated by mechanical shocking of piezo-ceramic transducer, In the 5002 circuit, the initiation supply current ecoya) CaN be changed by using exlernal resistorfRs The resistor (Rg. is connected to GND trom pin. As this initiation voltage remains constant independent ff Fisu, the supply initiation current {ecu varies. inversely with Alg.. Thus, increasing the value of Rst will decrease the amount of AC ringing current required to trigger the device Ag. can also be used 10 compensated for smaller AC line coupling capacitors which can be used 10 alter ihe ringer equivalence rhumber ofa one ringer ccuit Io¢-V ec (5002) graph in typical perlormance characteristic Wlusrales the variation of supply current with supply voltage.
