COMPARATIVE MANAGEMENT

 This is a broader aspect of management that focus of different and similar

management systems from different contexts.

 Focus on various management principles or practices, policies and strategies and how

they apply in different situations. E.g researchers comparing economies to help

enhance their potential and formulate different FDI policies

 Werich & Kang: defined it as the study and analysis of management in different

environment and the reasons why enterprises show different results.

 Comparison between management practices in different regions.

INTERNATIONAL AND COMPARATIVE MANAGEMENT

 Comparative management is broader concept that deals overall management of all

countries while international management is of a narrow focus that deals with

operations of multinational corporations.

 Comparative management is not part of international business and doesn’t need to

understand the local market conditions, while international management is part of the

comparative management and need to understand the local market condition.

Objectives of Comparative Management

 Helps to understand different management techniques used in different markets

 Establishes duties and responsibilities of international managers

 Help to compare different management styles in different economies


 Helps international managers to cope or contend with different management styles in

developing economies.

 Helps to study cross cultural differences among countries

 Elevated or enhanced managerial knowhow is instrumental foe economic growth and

productivity

 Design suitable management techniques from other economies that can enhance
