Wellness is Wealth at ANHS
I. Rationale
There are four determinants to good health: human biology, environmental stresses,
lifestyle choices, and access to and appropriate utilization of quality health care services.
Good health can be preserved and compromised or declining health can be improved through
the appropriate application of wellness information, services and products.
Promoting the importance of a healthy lifestyle not only improves the quality of life
for an individual but also the productivity as an employee. Everywhere you look there is
advice and article to read about what to do and not to do to be healthy. Everyone knows that
exercise is one way to balance and improve our healthy lifestyle every day.
Teachers now a day are dependent on different health care card and insurance
company thinking of their welfare when they got ill. Realizing these thoughts of investing on
those cards which cost higher value compare to a simple exercise, we are promoting a
wellness program that focus on the physical well-being of the faculty and staff of Agoncillo
National High School.
We organize this program to enhance teacher’s physical and mental strength through
dancing. Setting a one hour zumba dance every Wednesday and Friday morning, ensuring
personal health is a priority and in return higher productivity and decrease the cost related to
health care and teacher’s absenteeism.
According to study, improving the health of every employee is proven to lower rate of
absenteeism and school teachers who have greater stress and show more symptoms of poor
academic performance among students.
This program educates employees extensively on how to avoid illness and often
provide personal health improvement. Furthermore, teachers and other school employees are
role model for students. School employees who are interested in their own health are more
likely to promote behaviors and practices to students, who are more likely to engage in
health-promoting activities themselves.
The key to the success of this program lies in getting the participation of all the
employees. A school with healthy faculty and staff is a healthy school at all.

HEALTH IS WEALTH AT ANHS
NARRATIVE REPORT
“When our bodies fee right, our minds work right!”
That’s the motto of the wellness committee of Agoncillo National High School. This
program aimed at bringing that motto to life at our school and we are proud to continue
investing our health through “Zumba Wellness Dance Session” twice a week before or after
class. Teachers regardless of their physical condition level or exercise history are eligible to
participate. It is an effort to lower the cost of healthcare premiums, to serve as role models to
the community, and ensure a better quality of life for all the staff.
At first, this program was not easy for every one of us. We need to get up earlier than
usual time of going to school. The music was right but our bodies doesn’t move right too. We
can’t easily cope with the steps on our first but as we go on and as days passed by we easily
enjoyed the activity.
Through this activity we have time to have fun and get along with our co-teachers, we
laugh and chatting each other while enjoying the sweet on our faces and all over our bodies.
Truly there’s no greater wealth on earth other than health and this is what ANHS
teachers have been tested and proven by their selves.
