Briefly define group testing.
Group tests are the tests that have been designed in such a manner that a large number
of test takers can do them simultaneously. The instructions address the entire group not
individuals, are delivered only once at the beginning of the test and are not repeated for
anyone
Mention any five characteristics of group tests.
1. There is little impact of the personality of the examiner on the performance of the
examinees, which can be the other way round in case of individual testing
2. A large number of test takers can be examined simultaneously.
3. Some group verbal tests have been used in measuring scholastic aptitude also. .
4. These are convenient in administration and scoring
5. These tests are usually timed tests and the examiner does not do or say anything
that may interrupt the testing process.
Make a comparison between group tests and individual test on the basis of their
advantages.
1. A primary difference is that group testing tends to be more affordable than individual
testing
2. individual testing tends to be more in-depth.
3. In individual testing, there is a certain degree of rapport between the examiner and
the test taker
4. if testing is being done for diagnostic purposes then individual testing is the best and
perhaps the only approach used
5. In individual testing , Test administration is comparatively flexible in the sense that
instructions and questions can be repeated and at time rephrased according to the
educational/cultural/ anxiety level of the examinee.
