application
The SCADA-BEH indoor/outdoor, window-type current transform-
er is a 600 volt, 10kV BIL rated unit. Primary current ratios are
available from 50:5 thru 1200:5 at 60 Hertz (Hz) with a Rating
Factor of up to 2.0. This dry-type, solid-cast current transformer
will operate for supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA)
and with high accuracy for measurement or relay applications.

mechanical description
The core and coil assembly is wound and encapsulated in a mold-
ed cast resin with a window size of 4 ¾” or 5 ½”. The clamp-type
post secondary terminals are ¼”-20 slotted screws with associ-
ated hardware located inside a weather-tight aluminum conduit
box with two (2) 1” NPT conduit hubs.

accuracy performance
The SCADA-BEH can provide up to ± 2.5% Class accuracy at
2.5VA burden for measurement or relay applications (see ratings
specific to each ratio). The transformer is accurate through its
Rating Factor, and can be used continuously to this level.

The DEH-705 indoor/outdoor, window-type current transformer is
a 600 volt, 10kV BIL rated unit. Primary current ratios are avail-
able from 50:5 to 4000:5 at 60 Hertz (Hz) with a Rating Factor of
up to 4.0. This dry-type, solid-cast current transformer will oper-
ate with high accuracy for metering1 or relay applications.

The core and coil assembly is wound and encapsulated in a
molded cast resin with a window size of 5 ¾”. An optional primary
bus bar with NEMA 4-hole pads can also be provided (3000A
max). The clamp-type post secondary terminals are ¼”-20 slot-
ted screws with associated hardware located inside a clear poly-
carbonate cover. An optional weather-tight aluminum conduit box
with two (2) 1” NPT conduit hubs can be provided for SCADA

The SCT-983 indoor/outdoor, window-type current transformer
is rated for use on 600 volt systems with 10kV BIL. Primary
current ratios are available from 50:5 to 6000:5 at 60 Hertz (Hz)
with a Rating Factor of up to 4.0. This dry-type, solid-cast cur-
rent transformer will operate with high accuracy for metering or
relay applications.

The core and coil assembly is wound and encapsulated in a
molded cast resin with a standard 5.0” window (other sizes from
2.0” to 7.0”). An optional primary bus bar with NEMA 4-hole
pads can also be provided (5500A max). The secondary termi-
nals are ¼”-20 copper studs with associated hardware. An op-
tional removable terminal box with two (2) 1” NPT conduit hubs
can be provided for outdoor use.

application
The FERROGUARDSM (Type FSR-983) outdoor rated saturable
reactor is intended to minimize the possibility of ferro-resonance
activity on wire-wound, inductive designs of voltage transformers,
distribution transformers, and power transformers. This prod-
uct is rated 600V, 10kV BIL for use in secondary circuits of ma-
jor electrical equipment to provide a variable load to counteract
the on-set of ferro-resonance. The FSR-983 is offered in 115V,
120V, 240V, 115/240V or 120/240V ratings to properly apply onto
similarly rated secondary circuits.
Under normal voltage application (voltage rating and +/-10%
variation) the saturable reactor poses a minimal burden to the
main transformer. When voltages increase above the normally
expected values, FERROGUARDSM saturates and dramatically
increases burden requirements on the main transformer, thus
preventing saturation of the protected transformer core. By avoid-
ing core saturation, the unstable conditions which give rise to
ferro-resonance are prevented. Each FSR-983 is designed to
protect a specific transformer application and is so designated on
its nameplate.
