PRONOUN

A. EXPLANATION

Materi tentang pronoun sudah kita bahasa di bab


sebelumnya, yaitu pada bab part of speech.
Pronoun adalah kata yang digunakan untuk
menggantikan kata benda atau frasa kata benda.
Contoh pronoun atara lain: I,you, me, your, mine,
my. Ada banyak jenis pronoun, namun ada 4 jenis
pronoun yang paling umum dan sering digunakan,
yaitu:

1. Subjective pronoun
Subjective/subject pronoun berfungsi sebagai subjek atau pelaku dalam suatu
kalimat. Contohnya: Taufik Hidayat is an athlete, he is a good athlete. Beberapa
subjek pronoun antara lain: I, you, he, she, it, we, they.

2. Objective pronoun
Objective/object pronoun berfungsi sebagai objek dalam suatu kalimat, objek
merupakan kata benda (noun) yang menerima tindakan dari sebuah kata kerja.
Contohnya: They called us. Beberapa objek pronoun antara lain: me, you, him, her,
it, us, them.

3. Possessive pronoun
Possessive pronoun adalah kata ganti yang berfungsi untuk menunjukkan
kepemilikan sesuatu. Contoh: That is mine atau This hous is yours. Beberapa
possessive pronoun antara lain: mine, yours, his, hers, ours, theirs.

4. Reflexive pronoun
Reflexive pronoun adalah kata ganti yang merujuk kembali ke subjek pada suatu
kalimat. Contoh: I learned a lot about myself. Beberapa possessive pronoun antara
lain: myself, yourself, himself, herself, itself, ourselves, themselves.

C. EXERCISE

I. Choose the correct pronoun

1. Miss Tina is (we/us/our) teacher. (She/her/hers) always teaches (we/us/our)


patiently.
2. (I/me/my) have a brother. (He/him/his) works as a waiter.
3. (We/Us/Our) celebrate (he/him/his) birthday in (I/me/my) house.
4. Look at (they/them/their). (They/Them/Their) are happy family.
5. (They/Them/Their) have a meeting in (they/them/their) office.

D. CONCLUSION

Pronoun adalah kata yang digunakan untuk menggantikan kata benda atau frasa kata benda.
Contoh pronoun atara lain: I, you, me, your, mine, my. Ada banyak jenis pronoun, namun
ada 4 jenis pronoun yang paling umum dan sering digunakan, yaitu subject pronoun, object
