EMPLOYMENT NOTICE
(On Short-Term Contract Basis)

Mizoram University invited application for engagement of Assistant Professor in


Engineering/Technology programme and Architecture programme purely on Short-term
Contract basis. The details on fixed remuneration, the period of contract, vacant post and
minimum & other qualifications are as provided at Annexure-I. Interested candidates are
advised to carefully go through the employment notice before applying the post.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

1. The prescribed format of application appearing at Annexure-II and the criteria for
screening appearing at Annexure-III may be downloaded from Mizoram University
website www.mzu.edu.in in A-4 size paper.

2. The prescribed application fee is Rs 250.00 (Rs 100.00 for SC/ST applicant on
submission of supporting Certificate) payable in the form of Bank Draft.

(a) The Bank Draft shall be drawn in favour of Registrar, Mizoram University on
State Bank of India, Aizawl Main Branch;
OR
The prescribed fee may also be paid directly to the Finance Department, Mizoram
University, Aizawl, during office hours.
(b) Persons with Disabilities (PwDs) are fully exempted from payment of the
prescribed fees upon submission of relevant Disability Certificate issued by the
competent authority.
(c) Women applicants are fully exempted from payment of the prescribed fees.

3. Candidates are advised to satisfy themselves before applying that they possess at least
the minimum essential qualifications, furnished with clarity, as laid down in the
advertisement.

4. Applications should be supported by relevant documents (self certified) in all respects.
Claims of educational qualifications should be supported by Marksheets (mandatory)
and Certificates. Applications not supported by documents shall be summarily rejected.

5. Application after the last date, incomplete in any respect and any fresh paper/enclosures
after the closing date shall not be considered. Canvassing directly or indirectly at any
stages of the recruitment processes will lead to disqualification.

6. The crucial date for reckoning possession of educational and other qualifications,
possession of required experience, etc. is the last date of submission of application.

7. Any change in the correspondence address, mobile/telephone no. and email address
shall be communicated to the University, in writing.

8. The University shall verify the antecedents or documents submitted by a candidate, at


any time, at the time of appointment or during the tenure of service. In case of fake
documents, clandestine antecedents or suppression of information, services in the
University shall be terminated.

9. Screening of applications shall be based on the provisions stipulated under the Mizoram
University Ordinances as amended from time to time.

10. Applicants awarded degrees by foreign Universities are required to submit Equivalence
Certificate issued by Association of Indian Universities, New Delhi. The University
reserves the right to require Equivalence Certificate for various degrees from any of the
applicant.

11. The University reserves the right to cancel the advertisement in respect of any of the
post(s) for good and sufficient reason. The University reserves the right not to fill any
of the post(s). There may be an increase or decrease in the number of posts advertised.

12. Government of India is striving for gender balance in Government jobs. Women
candidates fulfilling the eligibility criteria are encouraged to apply.

13. The completeness of the submitted application is the sole responsibility of the applicant.
The University shall not be responsible for any delay/loss due to postal or technical
reasons.

14. In case of any inadvertent mistake in the advertisement and in the process of selection,
which may be detected at any stage, even after issue of appointment, the University
reserves the right to modify/withdraw/cancel any communication made to the
candidate.

15. Decisions taken by the University in any matters of recruitment shall be final.

16. This advertisement is distinct from the University’s Employment Notice vide No. 1-
47/Estt.I/15/252 dt. 29.12.2017. It should be noted that following the instructions of
UGC/Ministry of HRD, Govt. of India, direct recruitment of teachers for regular
appointment is not processed by the University.

17. Applicants intending to avail the service of private courier are advised to take
precaution before sending their applications and verify that Mizoram University (PIN-
796004) is within the service area of the concerned courier.

18. Last date of receipt of complete application is 31st January, 2019. Separate application
is required for post bearing different Post Code.

19. The complete application – (i) Annexure-II (Application), (ii) Annexure-III (Criteria for
Screening), (iii) Supporting documents, and (iv) Bank Draft/MZU Receipt (as
applicable) may be submitted to the Joint Registrar, Establishment, Mizoram
University, Aizawl, Mizoram - 796004. Applications shall be submitted by
superscribing the post applied for along with the Post Code on the envelope.

ANNEXURE-I

A. Remuneration:

Teachers engaged under this Short-term Contract shall be paid fixed remuneration of an
amount equivalent to basic pay plus Dearness Allowance of Assistant Professor at the
time of initial engagement. The University reserved the right to rationalize the fixed
remuneration as it deemed appropriate. The fixed remuneration, taking into account the
existing rate of Dearness Allowance is approximately Rs 62,000/- per month.

B. Period of Short-term Contract:

The engagement on Short-term Contract shall be for a period of upto one year initially.
On the basis of performance review, the teacher may be reappointed for another period
as decided by the University after a mandatory break in service.

Such teachers appointed purely on Short-term Contract basis shall have no claim of
permanency at any stage against the post for which he is engaged on Short-term
Contract.

The norms of All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) for
Engineering/Technology programme, and the norms of Council of Architecture (CoA)
for Architecture programme shall be followed for determining eligibility under this
Short-Term Contract.

Note for Architecture:


i) The period for acquisition of PG/Ph.D qualifications shall not be counted as

Sample Drawings of the projects undertaken as the case may be.
iii) The equivalent PG programmes to that of M.Arch. degree shall be as notified by
Council of Architecture from time to time.
iv) Undergraduate qualifications acquired through self study/non-formal mode
though acceptable for purpose of Registration shall not be considered as
equivalent Qualification for recruitment as Teacher. However, such candidates
with Post Graduate qualification in Architecture through formal mode are
acceptable for Teaching.
v) Only candidates registered with Council of Architecture (CoA) under the
provisions of the Architects Act, 1972 shall be eligible to apply.
