PRODUCT PROPOSAL
Name of the Product: VORTEX
Background
What is the most dangerous animal on earth? snake? shark? Humanity? Of course, it
depends on how you define danger. But if we base on a statistical way "How many people are
killed by this animal (insect)", then the answer is: the mosquito
Mosquito is a kind of tiny insects with a sucking nozzle. Usually the female uses blood as
food, while the male takes the juice from the plant. Female mosquitoes are intermediate hosts of
dengue fever, malaria, yellow fever, and other viruses. Because mosquitoes can spread a variety
of diseases, the Mosquito Control Association rated mosquitoes one of the most dangerous
animals in the world.
So how do we get rid of these insects? While nowadays there are many ways to get rid of
it; such as bug spray or chemical, and mosquito lamp, or mosquito swatter. Yes, they are
effective but not safe, first the bug spray, its form by combining many formulas that its good for
a person health and mostly for children at young age, next is the mosquito lamp which its main
function is to electrocute the mosquito which leads to stunning it and killing it a few percent of
fire accident is the improper use of this product.
So, the group innovate a new product that they called “Vortex” which is a product using
the concept of suction to trap the mosquito in with an additional function of cleansing the air to
make the area cleaner and at the same time lessen the mosquito in that area.
Rationale
Problem Statement
Mosquitoes has always been a problem since decades ago, every decade people invented
a new device to kill mosquitoes, but the still a side effect of those mosquito killer, our product is
an innovation for mosquito killer which doesn’t use chemicals to kill the mosquitoes. Which the
product can let the user to have a mosquito free surrounding and chemical free surrounding while
using the product.
In doing the product proposal, the researchers would like to answer the following questions:
• Is your area has a lot of mosquitoes?
• Is the mosquito killer you use is environmental friendly?
• Is the mosquito killer safe to use?
• Why is there need to have this product?
Objectives (Non-measurable)
After completing the production/implementation of this product, the innovators aim to:
To supplement the customers the knowledge of using the product.
To lessen the mosquito population in households, construction sites, etc.
To determine the effectiveness of the product in environmental circumstances such as
rainy season and others.
To decrease the possibility of an accident in using mosquito-killing products and
mosquito lamp that contain chemical poison and electric current which are prone to
children.
To have a cleaner and sick-free environment in households and other places.
To obtain a great feedback and customer satisfaction on the product.
Proposal Idea
VORTEX’s Features/Characteristics
15-20 inch on height
10-inch diameter
3-5 kg
With a build in lamp that attract the mosquito (special UV light)
A fan that could suck the mosquito in
A wire net where the mosquito would be once they are sucked
Filter that cleanse the air
And stand and a hook to be set in the room or to be hanged
