Celebrity Street

Wear
Task 4 -MDT General
Laticia King
Design Fundamentals
Aesthetics
The aesthetics for my garment is celebrity street wear. Current
trends around at the moment is baggy clothing with a funky style.
Many people like to add bags and belts as accessories to their street
wear. The garment I am wanting to create should be worn out in the
street as a fashion statement but also casual. It is going to be an
autumn garment worn when it is a tad chilly but also not too cold.

The Street style I want

to design is a tie dye
tracksuit set. This
outfit is perfect for
autumn and it is a
new fresh fashion
trend that celebrities
like Madison Beer and
Camila Cabello are
joining in on.
Function
The outfit is functionable for going out on a casual occasion. The
outfit will be easily movable in but also have a modern and
fashionable style. The sweatpants will have a stretch waist band this
is ideal as it makes the garment comfier and also really relaxed.

Safety
In terms of safety of my garment I need to ensure that the garment is
the right size so my celebrity, so the bagginess of pants doesn’t make
the celebrity trip over. Another thing I need to consider is that the
dye is a non-toxic brand and the colour doesn’t come off and stain
the skin of the celebrity.

Cost
In the market at the moment there are many matching tie dye sets
for sale. These normally cost about $30 for tracksuit pants and the
singlets can cost up to about $25 from general shops such as Supre
and Cotton On. My garment will be similar to the images below
however I want to modify the pants by making them ankle length
with an elastic tight bottom.

$60 Set from Online shop $25 Top and pants sold $15 Singlet
separately
Needs, Values and Beliefs
Need I need to create a street wear design that suits a celebrity to wear
in public. The garment needs to be cool and current to the 2020
fashion style.
Value In my life I often wear comfy lounge style clothing but make it
trendier to wear in public. The garment I want to create follows my
value of style and coziness. The track pants style is very baggy and
soft providing maximum comfort.
Belief I believe highly in sustainability. In order to keep my garment
sustainable, I will be using fabrics that are less harmful to the
environment.

Performance Criteria
o Is the garment easily movable and flexible?
o Does the garment fulfil the requirements of the Task?
o Is the garment safe for the celebrity to wear?
o Does the dye on the garment look fashionable and modern?

Inspiration Page
Inspiration 1-
This design has a lovely blue and white
aesthetic. The pants exactly fit the style
of sweatpants I am wanting to create. I
want to include the short cut of the
sweatpants in my final product. The
shorter cut allows more movement for
the streetwear.

Inspiration 2-
This design is a lovely style. I like the
design of the dye and the material looks
baggy and comfy. The pants are
functional as they are modern 2020 style
that many young girls are purchasing and
are being shown more and more in the
media. I would like to include the
positioning of the waist band. This design
is higher wasted, and I like this style
better than on the hip bone as it will look
more wearable with a short singlet top to
wear fashionably in public.
Inspiration 3-
I love this design as I love the colours on
the pants. The pockets and the stretchy
waist band make the sweatpants more
adjustable to different body types and
also give the pants a more active feel. I
want to incorporate the stretch waist
band into my final garment. This garment
succeeds my success criteria as it looks
fashionable for the current trends. It also
is comfortable, safe and follows the task
requirements.
Inspiration 4-
The colour of these pants is my favourite.
The aesthetics provide an overall lovely
look. The orange colour and blend of
blues and purples are what I want to
incorporate in my design. However, I
dislike the draw strings.

Design Justification
I chose this design as it is a new modern street style that teens and known
celebrities are presenting around the world. The design perfectly fits the
design criteria and the embellishment of tie dye is a new cool style. I chose this
design as I believe that it is important to choose comfort over style. The cotton
trackpants are perfect for this need. With fluffy material on the inside and
lovely cotton with vibrant colours on the outside this design is perfect.
