Visitor management is important for preserving heritage tourism sites and the experience of visitors. Large numbers of tourists can damage sites if not properly managed. Visitor management aims to balance protecting sites with providing enjoyable experiences for guests. It focuses on visitor movement, behavior, and characteristics. Effective visitor management requires planning with long-term perspectives considering both sites and guests. New technologies like the Visita system help tourism destinations implement health protocols and monitor capacity during the pandemic to support sustainable tourism. VISITOR MANAGEMENT

It is nice to visit and enjoy the place that is protected and preserve like Heritage tourism. It is
visited by many people from different places. Due to a large number of people, the site may be
ruined. It is difficult to preserve the tourism site. There are some activities that the guest wants to
do in that place and is the reason why they visited the place, but if that activity can ruin the place
and if you limit the guest on doing such thing the guest will be disappointed. Management
doesn’t want that to happen. That’s why in line with some problems that occur due to
overcrowding in the tourism site in the 1980s and 1990s some people have studied about
increasing number of visitors, its impact on a place and to other guests and how to manage it.
That’s the time when Visitor Management was discovered. (Pierce, 2017) VM is a small scope
covered by destination management. VM focuses on the movement, behavior, and characteristics
of a guest in a tourism area. Since it is only a small scope, it is not given much attention to
tourism destinations, but VM is one of the important things to do in the area of tourism. It is up
to VM to keep the guests and the place most especially the Heritage Tourism protected, safe, and
sustainable. Visitor Management is challenging to do, most especially when the managers do not
know much about it and don’t have theoretical frameworks as their basis. (Albrecht, 2017)
Therefore, Visitor Management should be well planned and has a long-term viewpoint that
considers both the side of the Tourism site and the guest. It is important to gather related and
specific details about it before it’s too late. (CANDREA & ISPAS, 2009)

Visitor Management plays an important rule during this pandemic. The tourism industry is the
most affected sector. Because of that, a non-profit tech innovation makes a way for the tourism
industry to meet the declining revenue it is called “Visita” it is a website and application that can
help nature-based destinations to implement health and safety protocols for the new normal.
Visita addresses the current problems of tourism overtourism, undertourism and the
implementation of the new tourist policies. This helps Visitor Managers in the area monitor
tourism traffic and the tourist capacity of their site which can also help to implement social
distancing. The guest can also check-in and check-out online to avoid physical contact and do
orientation to visitors through this site. One of the users of the Visita system is the wildlife-based
whale shark tourism destination Donsol, according to them the use of technology will help
Visitor Management during this pandemic period. (Adel, 2020)

Visitor Management is not only for the safety of the guests but also for the sustainability of the
area and the employees who work here. The tourism industry can only survive if Visitor
Management implements in a tourist destination very well and if everyone has self-discipline.
