Chinese:
Memory for examples
Creativity for writing & speaking
Standardization for listening
Emphasis on feelings for reading & writing
I find that my most obvious and recurring failings in reading is due to my inability to
comprehend abstract phrases. The inability to understand the meaning behind it has caused
me to be unable to keep up with the emotions that the author wishes to express.
Another thing is that I often forget the correct format of comparison, or perhaps that could
be attributed to my inability conclude the difference and similarity between two items.
In terms of writing, that would be my inability to formulate quality points of arguments
quickly, meaning that I would have to waste precious time coming up with otherwise
obvious points during listening as well. Besides, I also find that I do not have enough
examples to fluff up my arguments, and is especially lacking in terms of foreign examples.
Another failing is when I encounter emotion-oriented topics, I often find it difficult to
conjure content up from thin air, whereas those that pertains to traditional values appear
more easy. Perhaps this could be attributed to the fact that traditional values are more
often taught school, causing me to have thought and memorized more about it.
Mathematics
Speed is my major obstacle, as such I’ll have to familiarize myself with all topics more often.
Liberal Studies
Standardization for structuring
Memory for examples/ context
It seems that relating stakeholders to my point of argument and thinking up topic sentences
is my major downfall. Plus, I also have insufficient knowledge and ‘context’ for paper 2. This
should improve when I deign to memorize more LS knowledge.
Physics
My major downfall is my inability to apply the correct formulas to the subject at hand. My
inability to apply concepts to questions has wasted lots of time during my exams, and more
often than not, to no avail. I will also have to designate more time to memorizing stuff like
EM wave properties and applications, since they will often appear in exams. I can no longer
afford to think from the start for these commonly seen question-types. And of course, I will
have to have fully memorized the formulas before diving into doing exercises.
Chemistry
My major obstacle appears to be memorizing random knowledge and relating them across
all topics. Perhaps I should re-visit F3 materials? Another thing I really need to work on is
common applications and standard question-types in chemistry, for I can no longer afford to
spend time comprehending or contemplating commonly seen question-types during the
exams. I will also have to work on applying the same concepts to different elements and
chemicals.
Biology
I’m afraid the mind palace is not detailed and vivid enough at the moment. It will have to be
further magnified, expanded in order to fit in more detailed knowledge. I also find that
memorizing the vocab is becoming increasingly difficult. Professional words will prove to be
even more common and difficult when I get into medicine. Thus, it shall prove fruitful and
useful for years to come to invest in coming up with a memory palace system for
memorizing spelling and or or pronunciation.
