LEARNING FEEDBACK DIARY

General Objective: To enhance knowledge and skills learned in Maternal and Child Nursing.

09/09/20

What I have learned today was all about how nurses play roles im Maternal and Child Health,
ways in order to assure healthy outcomes for both mother and child. I've also learned how Nursing
Research and Evidence-based practice are put into practice and its benefits, even the vital role of
nursing process in Maternal and child health nursing. I've also learned some facts and statistics, as well
as their leading causes about mortality rate of the ff: Fetal, neonatal, child, maternal.

What I have learned today was about discussion of various methods contraceptions and its role
in family planning, difference between Mini pill and birth control pill, in which mini pill only contains
progestin hormone and birth control pill is a pill of combination of two hormones, estrogen and
progestin. I've also learned techniques in spiking an IV bag and priming the IV tubing as well as its
rationale. I've also learned about perineal care for females, which includes positions and strokes and
aftercare. I learned what are the procedures in bathing a newborn baby which includes: cleaning the
baby's eyes, baby's face, cleaning the baby's hair, baby's body, cleaning the baby's umbilical cord and
even dressing the baby. I've also learned the importance of GTPALM in identifying the total number of
pregnancies and how to apply this knowledge in making FDAR Format. FDAR stands for Format, Data,
Action and Response of a patient.

What I have learned today was about different stages of labor and delivery, types of placental
stage. I've also learned how Leopold Maneuver is performed and its rationales. I've learned what are the
fetal danger signs of labor as well as for maternal and its indications. I also learned how to create a pain
management plan for a woman in labor with nursing implications for monitoring of drug related
complications.
