Census Support Request to Coast Guard

The Philippine Statistics Authority is requesting support from the Philippine Coast Guard North East Luzon to transport 2020 Census of Population training and census materials to Batanes province by August 16th. Due to coronavirus restrictions, travel to and from Batanes is limited, which could hamper census preparations. The PSA is conducting training for its enumerators and supervisors but cannot do so in Batanes without assistance in transporting materials. They have also coordinated with the Office of Civil Defense for help and provide contact information for any questions.

Dear Commo Cornelio:

The Philippine Statistics Authority is scheduled to conduct its 2020 Census of


Population (CPH) on September 1-29, 2020. To ensure the successful conduct of the
activity, the regional office is currently conducting series of training to its Census Area
Supervisors and Enumerators for them to fully understand and grasp the Census
concepts, interview techniques and procedures. The said lectures will also be cascaded
at PSA provinces for their Third and Fourth Level Training. However, due to coronavirus
outbreak, travels to and from Batanes are restricted.

In view of this and in order not to hamper the census preparations for PSA-Batanes,
may we request support from your office to assist us in transporting CPH training and
census materials to be used by the province on or before 16 August 2020. The office
also coordinated with the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) for assistance.
