Removal
Disconnect the battery
Raise the front of the vehicle
Remove the front wheels
Remove the right wheel arch liner
Drain the engine oil
Remove the inlet manifold
Remove the ignition coils
Remove the right-hand engine support bracket

Before disconnecting the battery cable, check the audio system security code
Check the timing marks before timing chain removal
Release the fuel pressure
Remove the fuel pump fuse
Timing chain layout
Run the engine
When the engine has stopped switch off, and refit the fuse
Disconnect the injectors
Remove the fuel rail together with the injectors
Plug the fuel lines
Disconnect the positive crankcase ventilation hose
Disconnect the valve of the crankcase breather hose
Remove the cylinder head cover

Turn the wheels to right-hand full lock
Remove the coolant pump pulley
Disconnect the right-hand engine support earth cable
Note: Use a trolley jack to support the engine
Remove the right-hand engine support
Timing chain layout
Turn the crankshaft to TDC for cylinder 1
Turn the crankshaft clockwise to align the timing marks
Align the timing marks on the crankshaft pulley and timing cover

Check the camshaft timing marks
When the timing marks are misaligned, rotate the crankshaft 360 degrees to align them

Lock the oil pump shaft using a Torx socket
Remove the oil pump chain together with the gearwheels
Timing chain layout
Installation
Refit the oil pump chain together with the gearwheels
Lock the oil pump shaft using a Torx socket
Tighten the oil pump gearwheel (25 Nm)

Remove the locking pin from the chain tensioner
Check the timing marks again
Renew the crankshaft oil seal in the engine front cover

Tighten the crankshaft pulley centre bolt
Stage 1: (35 Nm)
Stage 2: (60°)
Threads lightly oiled
Tighten the crankshaft pulley outer bolts
Refit the right-hand engine support (A: 65 Nm, B: 45 Nm)
Timing chain layout
Remove the trolley jack
Refit the coolant pump pulley (7 Nm)
Refit the expansion tank pressure cap
Refit the lower radiator hose
Refit the ancillary drive belt
Refit the cylinder head cover (10 Nm)
Reconnect the valve of the crankcase breather hose
