RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE WITH CARING
BEHAVIOR OF IMPLEMENTATION CARE IN THE INPATIENT ROOM OF
SUNAN KALIJAGA HOSPITAL DEMAK

Background - Nursing services are one of the benchmarks of health services in
hospitals, where nurses carry out client maintenance tasks directly. Nurse caring
behavior in providing services is needed. This behavior is closely related to the
emotional intelligence of an individual's ability to know his own emotions in
managing and managing emotions into positive motivation. Nurse caring
behavior based on high emotional intelligence can encourage the achievement of
quality nursing services.
Objectives - The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between
emotional intelligence and caring behavior of nurses in the inpatient room at
Sunan Kalijaga Hospital Demak.
Method - This type of research uses descriptive correlation with cross sectional
approach, which involved 38 respondents with total sampling techniques that
meet the inclusion criteria. Analysis using the Chi Square test.
Results - The results of the study were 57.9% of nurses had high emotional
intelligence, and as many as 55.3% of nurses had good caring behavior. The
results of the study there is a significant relationship between emotional
intelligence with nurses caring behavior with a value of p = 0.027 (<0.05).
Conclusions - Most nurses have good emotional intelligence and caring
behavior. From the results of the study it can be concluded that there is a
relationship between emotional intelligence with nurses caring behavior. There
needs to be an effort to improve the ability of emotional intelligence to develop so
that it can increase caring behavior in nursing practice.
