Cancer is a disease. There are many types of cancer. It can start in the lungs, breast,
colon, or even in the blood. Different types of cancer have some similarities, but they
are different in the way they grow and spread.

In the 1940s, some innovations began to emerge in developed countries. In 1947,
Farber discovered methotrexate. This drug used to be a drug that blocks a metabolite
of folic acid. In addition, it prevents the development of acute leukemia. It was the first
time that hematological improvement was achieved in patients with this neoplasm
DECADE OF 50
In the same decade of the 60, Dr. Andrés Solidoro, started the era of chemotherapy in
Peru. This renowned Peruvian physician has been very prolific in his contributions to
oncology, emphasizing his studies on Hodgking's disease in children.
DECADE OF 80
In 1973, nuclear magnetic resonance was introduced for the first time. it´s used to
apply cancer treatment

Actually, there are more innovations in the medical treatment of cancer, such as: the
combination of endocrine therapy, chemotherapy, biological therapy. Currently we are
not talking about chemotherapy but about pharmacotherapy.
