Start Small, Then Achieve Big Impact: DOI:10.1145/3377932 Cherri M. Pancake

Volunteers within ACM have had a big impact by starting small initiatives that later grew significantly. Examples include (1) establishing policies against harassment and coercion that now apply to all ACM events, (2) encouraging reproducible research by promoting inclusion of data and code in publications, and (3) hosting specialty summer schools that explore new topics at the intersection of computing and other fields. These small volunteer efforts have contributed greatly to ACM's success.
