Prenatal Care During the First Trimester

1. Create an assessment form to be used during prenatal care


2. Explain/ Discuss the Diagnosis of pregnancy
3. List some cardiovascular changes in pregnancy caused by the marked increase in circulating blood
volume.
4. Describe the expected changes in the bladder and bowel elimination that occur during pregnancy.
Include in your answer the basis for the changes.
5. Mari has come to your clinic for diagnosis of a possible pregnancy. As part of the assessment, a pelvic
examination will be performed by the physician. Mari tells you that she has never had this type of
examination before. As the nurse who will be with her, how would you help Mari cope with this
examination and make it a positive experience.
6. Based on the situation below, write a nursing diagnosis and list goals and interventions that would be
appropriate in taking care of a pregnant woman.
a. Shiela is 6 weeks pregnant. During the health history interview, she tells you that she has limited intake
of fluids and tries to hold her urine as long as she can because “I just do not have the time to keep going
to the bathroom”
