DIARY
This rotation is definitely challenging, given the fact that we are hitting three birds
at the same time. We are trying to learn on how nurses do their part in the preparation
of patients who undergo Digital Rectal Examination (DRE), Visual Inspection of the
cervix with Acetic acid (VIA), and Ultrasound (UTZ).

I encountered DRE in our health assessment before, although it was not that
elaborated. Through this RLE, I was able to learn about the procedure deeper. I was
able to get information regarding DRE that I was not able to learn about in our health
assessment before.

I learned a lot about VIA in this RLE. I was able to read journals regarding VIA
and how it is clearly helpful to screen cervical cancer.

I never knew that different types of ultrasound serve different purposes. I was
surprised to learn that a full bladder can help make a clearer path for the technologist in
pelvic ultrasound.
