Personal statement:

I am currently studying business level 3 yr 2 at Shipley College. My grade profile

for yr 1 is distinction star. I have a particular interest in marketing and digital
media. This course we study different topics within the course such as finance
and marketing. One of my favorite units at college is marketing and when we get
told to design blogs and websites. This is because I am allowed to create using
my own ideas and have that freedom to do so. It allows me to show off my skills.
This also fits perfectly with my future plans. I'm hoping to go off and study digital
marketing at university as this has always been my strongest point of study and I
am interested in.

I've had a bit of work experience and done some voluntary work to help me build
on my skills. I have had work experience at a community centre working in an
office as well as working in retail. When doing my work experience I was able to
apply my used skills which are my IT skills to help create a website and
marketing skills. I was also able to communicate effectively to other people and
receive orders from others as well as give them it also helped me to get used to a
working environment.

Highfield Community Association Centre - (Industrial Placement)

November 2019-March 2020

I worked in an office and learnt new skills as well as working with the surrounding
community from different backgrounds. One of the responsibilities I was given
was to make sure the social media website was always updated with the latest
events. My role was to help around. and get the feel of what it is like in a working
environment.

HCA Girls Group -Team Member December 2019

I volunteered for a girls group to talk about female empowerment and self
confidence, when doing this I helped other young girls like myself to be confident
with themselves and think of them as equal to men in the working world. Some of
the activities I did was help make posters of what these girls thought of the
working world and if they thought that people’s mindset had changed. I helped
prepare a speech with a group of around 15 girls to present at the Airedale
shopping centre talking about women empowerment.

Achievements

March 2020- I took part in a charity event for International Women's Day at our
local shopping centre in Keighley selling sweet cones for charity. Each sweet
cone was sold for a pound.

February 2020- I took part in the First Give Samaritans charity which we
engaged with as a team to help come up with ideas to raise money for the
Samaritans. We organised a tea party and all participated by bringing in a sweet
dish. We raised £155.31. This was part of some work we did as part of our
college course as voluntary work were we helped raise money for the samaritans

Interests
I have an interest in creating posters and websites for small companies and
businesses. A small business I created posters for is Highfield Centre. I created
posters for them to put up around Keighley informing the public about upcoming
events that are going to be taking place and to see if anyone is interested. I try to
make them as appealing as possible. Another example of this is when I created a
poster for a clothes store regarding a sale. I also created a website for a family
business presenting perfumes. I have an interest in technology and creating
things.
