VOCABULARY

RAM (random access memory): the part of


the computer in which information is
stored temporarily when a program is
being used

CPU (central processing unit): the part of a


computer system that performs the
computer s main functions and controls
the other parts of the system

ROM (read only memory): the part of a


computer in which information that
cannot be changed is stored

Disk drive: a computer part that reads data


from and copies data to disks

Fan: sometimes also called the heat sink,


pulls hot air out of the computer

Hard Drive: a device that is used for


storing computer data and that contains
one or more hard disks
