AIMS:
In this session I aim to:
     Resources: Coursebook, radio, blackboard, sheets.
1. To introduce the simple past tense with its function to talk about the past,

2. To introduce the negative form of the past simple and the “ed” form with regular verbs
3.To introduce the question form by asking learners simple question forms and getting short answers.
4. To introduce new vocabulary about using the time expressions in the past simple tense
5. Getting them to write a letter about a past event.
6. To provide practice in listening for the gist
OBJECTIVES:
By the end of the lesson all students should be able to :
1.Understand and use the past simple tense in negative form with regular verbs.
2. Ask simple questions in past simple tense and give short answers.
3.Describing things that happened or did not happen in the past.
4. Recognise the significance of the use of past simple tense with the time expressions.
5. Listen to a passage and skim the text to obtain the gist.
6. Identify the stages of an argument.
7. Write a letter about a past event.
By the end of the lesson some students should be able to:
1. Summarize briefly the lesson using the past simple tense
2. Being aware of the formation and sentence structure of the past simple and getting a chance to use
past simple sentences for speaking .
3. Know how to transform affirmative sentences in the past simple into negative sentences using some
irregular verbs.
