The ancient Georgian alphabet was officially recognized as a cultural heritage in March 2015. It was also named one of the top five most beautiful alphabets in the world. The Georgian alphabet was created in the 4th century AD and has historically had three types of scripts. Additionally, each letter precisely corresponds to a single sound. Presenting the scripts internationally was another step toward gaining worldwide recognition for the language. Georgians take pride in their unique language and writing system, celebrated annually on Mother Language Day marking Georgia's victory over Soviet repression in 1978.
