Final Exam HRM

The five human resource management functions are interrelated and impact each other. Staffing ensures the right employees are hired, which enables effective human resource development through training and career planning. This increased skills and knowledge leads to higher productivity, which should be rewarded through adequate compensation and benefits. However, compensation is most effective when employees work in a safe, healthy environment supported by positive employee and labor relations. All functions must work together systematically for an organization to successfully manage its human resources.

Human Resource Management

All HR functions are important and complement each other
Discuss this phrase, explaining how each function affects the other functions
Support your answer with examples
-:ANSWER
The 5 human resource management functions are
staffing 2- human resource development 3- compensation and -1
benefits 4- safety and health 5- employee and labor relations

-:All HR functions are important and complement each other

All Human Resource Management functions are highly interrelated and any
decisions in one area or function will affect the other functions
The relationship between them becomes stronger and the impact of each
mission becomes greater as the size of the organization increases
For example: the firm that emphasizes recruiting top- quality candidates but
neglects to provide satisfactory compensation is wasting time , effort and
money
A firms compensation system will be inadequate unless employees are provided
a safe and healthy work environment
The importance of each function and its effect on the other

-: staffing -1
In staffing, the right person is recruited for the right jobs, therefore it leads to
maximum productivity and higher performance
It helps in promoting the optimum utilization of human resource through
various aspects
Job satisfaction and morale of the workers increases through the recruitment of
the right person
Staffing helps to ensure better utilization of human resources
Staffing involves: job analysis , human resource planning , recruitment and
selection
Job analysis : It helps an organization determine which employee is best for a
specific job. In other words, job analysis is used to determine placement of jobs.
It allows human resource managers to identify the path of job progression for
.employers looking to advance their career and compensation
Human resource planning : helps in knowing current need of an organisation
and select the right way for fulfil the organisational need with the help of
outsourcing
Recruitment: is the process of attracting individuals on a timely basis , in
sufficient numbers. And with appropriate qualification
Successful recruitment is a direct reflection of the legitimacy and
professionalism of your business. Employing the right people for your business
is the most important part of your organization
Selection: selecting the right employees is important for three main reasons:
.performance, costs, and legal obligations
Efficient Performance of Other Functions
For the efficient performance of other functions of management, staffing is its
key. Since, if an organization does not have the competent personnel, then it
cannot perform the functions of management like planning, organizing and
control functions properly
Second function

-:Human resource development -2

a major HRM function that consists not only training and development but also
individuals career planning and development activities and performance
appraisal
it is an investment in one's employees that will ultimately result in a stronger
and more effective workforce. When an organization develops their employees,
they are strengthening their assets and making these employees even more
valuable
-: HRD involves
Training 2- d-Development 3- Career planning 4- Organization -1
development 5- performance appraisal
Training :designed to provide learners with the knowledge and skills needed -
for their present job
Development: includes learning that goes beyond todays job -
Career planning : ongoing process whereby an individual sets career goals and -
identifies the means to achieve them
OD : planned process of improving an organization by developing its structures -
and system
Performance appraisal: formal system of review and evaluation of individual or -
team task performance

-:Effect of human resource development on other functions

firm's competitiveness depends on its capacity to manage performance and
improve the development of the skills and competencies of employees ‐
.creating a learning environment
HRD professionals help to integrate HRD functions and organizational objectives
by creating a learning environment
Third function

Compensation and benefits

A well-thought-out compensation system provides employees with adequate
and equitable rewards for their contributions to the meeting of organizational
goals

: The reward may be

pay: money that a person receives foe performing a job -1
Benefits: Additional financial rewards -2
Nonfinancial rewards: as enjoyment of the work performed -3

The effect on other functions

Productivity in relation to compensation starts with employees feeling valued
.which increases motivation and loyalty
Not only are employees more motivated to do a good job, but also, the longer
people are with the company, the more they know and the more efficient they
become
A good compensation is a must for every business organization, as it gives an
employee a reason to stick to the company
Fourth function

safety and health-4

Safety: involves protecting employees from injuries caused by work- related
accidents
Health : refers to the employees freedom from physical or emotional illness

Importance of this function

Employees who work in a safe environment and enjoy good health are most
likely to be productive and yield long- term benefits to the organization
Health and safety is the key factor for all the industries in order to promote the
wellness of both employees and employers

The fifth function

Employee and labor relations-5

Strong employer and employee relationship can be the key to the ultimate
success of an organization
It is known that if a strong relationship is in place employees will be more
productive, more efficient, create less conflict and will be more loyal
is concerned with preventing and resolving problems involving employees which
stem out of or affect work situations
In addition, Employee Relations recognizes employees for service contributed
to the Pace community and provides assistance with professional growth
Conclusion from my understanding
The way they are arranged shows the great relationship between them
Through my reading of this sequence, the relationship between the five
functions is very clear. For example, we start hiring workers, which is the first
function (staffing) , And the processes that follow within it
Then we turn to the development of their skills and the branches that fall
under it
Then how can we promote this development through compensation and
benefits
And what must be met by the conditions in the employees themselves and in
,the work environment
and the relationship of employees among them and its impact on productivity

If the organization performs every task in an effective, successful and

sequential manner, it guarantees success in managing its human resource and
achieving the organization's productivity
Because any mistake or neglect of any function will be followed by failure in
the rest of the functions
-:Examples
For example, if we give an employee a bonus, compensation or
encouragement , his productivity will increase and he will become
more loyal to this organization
On the contrary, when the organization ignores the efforts of
employees and does not value them, then it does not guarantee their
stay in the organization because they will go to companies that value
their efforts
Also, if the organization gives adequate compensation, but the work
environment is not comfortable, then this is a waste of time and
money because all the jobs affect each other and it is not possible to
separate or ignore any one of them

:Another example
The working environment is a very important factor in the
productivity of human resources
If it is unhealthy and comfortable, it will have a negative impact on
employees and, consequently, on the company as a whole
