RESOLUTION NO. 07-2020


A RESOLUTION GRANTING MOTUARY FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE TO THE SENIOR CITIZENS
OF BARANGAY RUBIO, GALIMUYOD, ILOCOS SUR IN THE AMOUNT OF ONE THOUSAND
FIVE HUNDRED PESOS (P1,500) TO DEFRAY THE COST OF BURIAL EXPENSES.

WHEREAS, it is the policy of the local government to institutionalize measures which grant
benefits and privileges to senior citizens, as enshrined under RA 9994, otherwise known as
the “Expanded Senior Citizens Act of 2010”;

WHEREAS, Senior Citizens have significantly contributed, one way or another, to the
growth and development of our society;

WHEREAS, in recognition of their valuable contribution to nation building, senior citizens


deserve to be given additional benefits apart from those already provided for by RA 9257;

WHEREAS, senior citizens in this barangay is strongly clamoring for burial benefits in
addition to the other benefits they are already enjoying under existing laws, taking into
serious account the rising cost of burial expenses and similar considerations;

NOW THEREFORE, on motion duly seconded, the Sangguniang Barangay resolves as it is


HEREBY RESOLVED to grant mortuary financial assistance to the senior citizens of
Barangay Rubio, Galimuyod, Ilocos Sur in the amount of One Thousand Five Hundred Pesos
(P1,500) to defray the cost of burial expenses subject to the availability of funds and
funded under 5% Gender and Development Fund of Annual Budget;

RESOLVED FURTHER, that senior citizens as provided for in this measure shall refer to
those defined and considered as such as by RA 9257and its implementing rules and
regulations and the beneficiaries/claimant(s) representing the deceased senior citizen
shall comply with the following guidelines, to wit:
1. The mortuary assistance of One Thousand Five Pesos (P1,500) must be extended
only to senior citizen actually residing in this barangay.
2. The assistance should only be availed of card bearing members (with ID) and those
who have been duly registered in the OSCA masterlist.
3. In all instances, this assistance only be availed of upon prior presentation of proof of
death and other documentary evidences;

UNANIMOUSLY APPROVED this 17th day of May, 2020 at Barangay Rubio, Galimuyod, Ilocos
