Hello Ladies and gentlemen.
Before we start this Hindi poetry, we would like to thank the original creators of
this, the students of my Alma meter IIT Kanpur.
It is inspired from a real story, here I will portray the role of Akash, who had this
beautiful and heart touching experience with a 4 year old little girl Anjali.
It was end of the evening remedial class that we few students have been running in
the campus for the children of campus workers, who could not afford play school
for their kids. It was not a usual disperse after the class because, at end I told
them about the sudden demise of our ex-president Dr Kalam. They all knew who
Dr Kalam was. However all students left with a good bye, except Anjali, who was
sitting at the back. She was slowly packing her stuffs. I waited for a minute, she
pack up her bag and was leaving ignoring me. Her eyes were moist. I have never
seen her so upset. I asked her from back, “Anjali, What happened. You ok? ” She
smiled and started running. I knew that smile was not her? I stopped her and
raised her on my lap and asked her, “Am I still your best friend?”
She replied, “I had a question for Kalam”. And that question, with the affection
and passion she asked me really shocked me. It really touched my heart. This
poetry narrates her reply.
Rachel will translate it into English.

I wanted to ask you many questions. I do not know how many mysteries. They will
never be answered, because those questions were for you only. And those are all
gone with you now O’ Kalam.
(Now it make sense why Anjali was hesitant.)
I was not even born when you became missile man. I would always see my friends,
they all wanted to make their own missile and wanted to be a missile man like you.
But I wanted to ask you just one question,
“Why does my paper rocket return back and fall on the ground after some time??”
I had thought, I will ask you when I will meet you. And I still want to ask you this
question; tell me O’ Kalam
What I see in my dream, why does it return back and fall on the ground after some
time?
And yours are still flying.
What fuel do you put in your rockets??
I had thought I would ask you, when I would meet you, but they are all gone now,
with you O’ Kalam.
Abinash : We all know sudden demise of rocket scientist and 11th president of
India Dr APJ Abdul kalam, left the whole India in shock and grief. But the
question Anjali left in my heart will never fade. It will always remind me of you, O
Kalam.
