Topic: Prepositions of time and Adverbs of frequency
Aids: textbook, whiteboard, notebooks, handouts
Aims: At the end of the lesson, the students will be able:
- to identify the prepozitions of time and the adverbs of frequency;
- to use correctly the prepositions of time and the adverbs of frequency;
- to introduce the prepositions of time and the adverbs of frequency in the using of
Present Simple tense.

Stage Activity Timing

1.Lead-in The Teacher greets the students and asks them how they are 9 min.
feeling. Checks the absents and the homework, correcting the
mistakes.
Students have to make a quiz where they will match the
actions with the time given. Teacher uses in the quiz Present
Simple, adverbs of frequency and prepositions of time (anexa
1). After doing that, students will be asked what the lesson is
going to be about.
2.Elicitation Teacher asks students when we use Present Simple and put 5 min.
some questions about the lesson’s topic: What does in, on, at,
never, sometimes, often, usually, always mean? When we use
them?

3.Presentatio Teacher announces students that today they are learning about 6 min.
n prepositions of time and adverbs of frequency. Teacher writes
the title on the board and students write it in their notebooks.
Teacher explains and writes the rules on the board, students do
the same on their notebooks.
4.Controlled Teacher gives students handouts with two exercises (anexa 2). 10 min.
practice The first one is about completing the sentences with at, in or
on. On the second exercise students have to rewriting the
sentences putting the words in brackets in the correct place.
5.Freer Students are divided into groups. They will receive some cards 13 min.
practice with images representing characters, actions, timing and an
adverb of frequency (Anexa 3). They have to put the cards
together and make sentences and write them into their
notebooks. When they have finished, students will say the
sentences in front of the classroom.
Students take a look at exercise 10 from page 78. They have to
use prompts and adverbs of frequency to make sentences that
are true for them.
6.Review and Students will be asked some questions to verifying their 7 min.
Follow up attention. Eg. Who wants to tell me the adverbs of frequency?
Why do we use them? What is their purpose? Where do we
have to put them in a sentence? When do we use the
preposition at? But in? But on?
Teacher apreiate the students’ progress and notes them.
As homework, students have to solve exercise 1 at page 78
from their textbook.
