countries that gave up nuclear weapons, two countries that ended their nuclear weapons

programs.

a. Two countries with declared nuclear weapons are the United States and France

b. Two countries that gave up their nuclear weapons are south Africa and

Kazakhstan.

c. Two countries that ended their nuclear weapons programs are Brazil and

Argentina.

2. Define IAEA and two of its functions

a. The IAEA is an international organization that seeks to promote the peaceful use

of nuclear energy, and to inhibit weapons.

b. Two functions include:

i. The inspection of existing nuclear facilities to ensure the peaceful use and

the providing of information

ii. And developing standards to ensure the safety and security of nuclear

facilities.
3. DEFINE

a. Nuclear proliferation:

i. The spread of nuclear weapons, fissionable material, and weapons-

applicable nuclear technology and information to nations not recognized

as “Nuclear Weapon states” by the Non-Proliferation Treaty.

a. Three reasons for the Iranian Revolution include:

i. charges in a newspaper published as “Fifty Indictments of Treason during

Fifty Years of Treason” including being a military dictatorship

ii. rigging parliamentary establishment,

iii. and a wide gab between the rich and the poor coming out of policy.

3. Name two factors that helped the clerics consolidate power after revolution.

a. Two factors that helped clerics consolidate power were the boycotting of the

constitution writing process by those opposed to Khomeini and the drafting of a

highly theocratic constitution.

b. Alongside this, clerics consolidated power through Khomeini’s overwhelming

charisma and popularity and he uptick in oil places providing financial support.
