Scenario

Scenario
CSC higher education institute which is located in Kurunegala. They are starter institute,
planning to conduct courses specialization in multimedia technology. The program which
they are proposed to conduct; Diploma in graphics designing, Diploma in Graphics
Animation & Fashion Designing. As per IT requirement above the CSC institute need
computer labs, Staff computers and servers. Assume your self as an associate network
administrator and design the network to meet the following requirement;
 2 computer labs, each lab will consist 20 PC’s

 12 PC’s will be allocated to staff

 2 servers will be setup to provide the services;


o Email server
o Web Server
 Internet facility will be provided
 Lab computer will obtain IP addresses from router DHCP server
 Staff computers and Servers will be setup with static IP address

1. Describe the IP address configurations components (IP Address, Subnet Mask,


Default Gateway, DNS & TFTP). (LO1) (15 Marks)

2. Design a suitable network and match your design with CSC higher education
institute specification in Packet Tracer Ver 6.2 (LO3) (LO4) (25 Marks)
a. Need to show your detailed network diagram clearly in packet tracer (include
just 4 pc’s per lab, 6 pc’s for staff) , Fulfill the above scenario requirement
b. Provide screenshots of troubleshooting steps (Ping)
c. Configure servers Email and Web, all client must be able communicate with
the servers (MUST INCLUDE SCREENSHOTS)

3. Discuss DHCP service in Client Server architecture (Components, Protocol


Discussion, Technical background, Usage, Benefits). (LO2) (15 Marks)

4. Explain OSI reference model along with protocols and map network devices which
you have used when design your network. (LO2) (20 Marks)

5. Recommend the enhancements you could include into this network in terms of
hardware, software, design and technology. (LO2, LO4) (20 Marks)

b. Provide detail recommendation with innovative ideas
