Compare and contrast the various genres and the ones from the earlier genres/periods
citing their elements, structures and traditions, by;
1.1 Identifying and define the elements of the different literary genres; and
1.2 Describing the elements among different literary genres.

I. ENGAGING ACTIVITY
1.1 Setting Emotional Climate

1. Stand up.
2. Blink your left eye while simultaneously snapping
your fingers with your right eye.
3. Now blink your right eye and while snapping wit
you left hand.
4. Try to blink one eye while snapping on the opposite side’s
hand 15 times in a row alternating eyes. In other words, blink
your left eye while simultaneously snapping with your right
hand and then blinking your right eye while snapping with
your left hand.

Linking Statement
If there is one thing Filipinos love, it is a good dramatic story. Filipinos can
easily find themselves in one of the characters whom they watch on TV. Filipinos also
relate the situations in the story to certain parts of their lives, such as longing for a lost
parent or child, the death of a relative, or a dramatic love story that is against the world.

Step 3. The class will be divided into 4 groups. Each group will have different tasks.
Step 4. Encode your work on a long bond paper.

GROUP 1 - Identify where and when did the event in the poem happen? Were there
persons involved? If yes, who were they? Please cite a line or lines in the poem which
told you that.

GROUP 2 - Identify and describe the event or different events in the poem. Give the
main idea of the poem.

GROUP 3 - How does the author look at his subjects? Identify other words that sound
familiar in the ending or beginning. Write them all.

GROUP 4 - How do you read the poem (since you don’t sing it) to produce an effect?
What are the values derived from the poem? Do these apply to present life situation?
