RARS, Hathazari

The Regional Agricultural Research Station in Hathazari, Chittagong was established in 1956 on 62.75 hectares of land to conduct research on agriculture challenges in the region. The station faces high rainfall, drought, cyclones, salinity, and pest and disease pressures. Its activities include annual regional research programs, yield trials, seed production, farming demonstrations, nursery management, and technology transfer. Future research focuses include hybrid maize variety development, grafting techniques for minor fruits, integrated fertilizer management, and identifying best practices. The station requires facilities expansion like additional land, laboratories, equipment, and infrastructure to continue supporting agriculture in the region.
