Individual Final Project

Female Writers Presentation

Objective: Students will collect information on a chosen female writer, and then make a

presentation going over their life, works, and any additional information they find important

(awards, breaking barriers, acknowledgements, etc.).

Assignment: Students will pick a from a list of provided female writer (or get permission from

teacher for another one) and make a presentation on them to present before the class. After

picking a writer, make sure to sign up for that author on the class period presentation form while

making sure to pick a subject no one else in same class period has already selected (first come,

first serve, sorry).

Instructions:

 Presentation should be made using Google Slides using information from various

sources, visuals relevant to the topic, and any additional links to videos or sources not

covered in presentation, but relevant.

 Each presentation should include a title page, and introductory page, pages for the

information needed to be covered within presentation, a concluding page, and a works

cited page at the end.

Atlas 2

o Sources should be documented using correct MLA format

 Presentations should also include the following information:

o Chosen writer’s name

o Background information on writer

o Most popular or important works (books, essays, journals, etc.)

o Any awards or recognitions the writer has received

o Any important movements or causes that the writer has contributed to

 Presentations should have been made using at least two reputable sources, and no more

than five sources (this presentation is not that long, and you do not want to overload your

audience).

 Presentations should be between five to seven minutes long and be around 6 slides.

 You may work in groups of two if you and another student want to do a presentation of

the same writer.

o For pairs, the presentation must be around 10 minutes long, about 12 slides, and

you must both speak equal amounts.

Note: Please consider doing your project on an author you know little to nothing about. This

presentation offers a laid-back research opportunity so that you can practice finding sources,

using sources, and then compiling information in an organized manner. This assignment is more

difficult to do and will not provide you with as much help if you are just using information from

your head. Good luck and have fun!
