1、DESCRIPTION:
CDQ(S) Sucker Rod Elevator series are important apparatus to handle the descending and
ascending of the drill pipes in the operation of well-repairing in oilfield. Before the product is
used, please read this instruction carefully.
With reasonable design, easy operation, safety and reliability and qualified materials,
T-Brand CDQ(S) Sucker Rod Elevator series are manufactured by both advanced
technology and special intensity heat treatment. They are verified with super structural and
wear-resisting nature by strict strength test and NDT. They can handle sucker rods of ⅝"～
1¼" diameter used in the operation of descending and ascending.
All the technical parameter and property of the elevator completely conform to the
requirements of SY5235 and API Spec 8A.

2. STRUCTURALPRINCIPLE:
CDQ(S) Sucker Rod Elevator series are tongue-and-spring type elevators which consist of
elevator segment, handle, and so on.
The front and back tongues which can rotary around the bolt are fit in the body of
elevator segment, each of the front and back tongues is fitted with one wrench spring. When
it is used in lifting, the front and back tongues move into the body of elevator segment with
contact strength of the suck rod. When the suck rod is in the center hole of the elevator, the
front and back tongues move back to their original position by the force of wrench spring to

fix the suck rod lest the suck rod could separate from the elevator. When the two back
tongues are pressed against each other, the two front tongues can swiftly move into the
elevator segment, and the n the suck rod can be discharged.

4. USAGE AND OPERATION
1) Select the corresponding elevator as per the specifications of the suck rod.
2) Before the elevator is used, it should be checked if all the front tongues are in the body of
the elevator segment and if the front and back tongues can be rotated freely as well as the
handle.
3) When the suck rod has been in the center hole of the elevator, the front tongues should be
checked if they have recuperated to their original position to fix the suck rod.
4) Before the elevators leave factory, the primary parts of elevator like elevator segment and
handle have been strictly tested. After the elevator has been used for a period of time (3
months) or when it is repaired, the elevator segment and handle should be checked whether
any of them has crack, when crack is found, the use of elevator should be prohibited.
5) Overload on the elevator is prohibited.
6) When crack is found in elevator or the load surface has over-abraded (the abraded
≥2mm), the use of elevator should be prohibited.
7) The elevator should be used under normal temperature as per the requirement of SY5112
and API Spec 8A. Should the temperature be below -18 ℃ , the use of elevator should be
prohibited.
5. MAINTENANCE
1) Before the elevators are used, they should be stored in dry and ventilated places lest they
could be rusted or eroded.
2) After the elevators are used, the elevators should be cleansed and all the safety of all the
parts should be checked. Meanwhile the elevator should be coated with clean machine

grease and saved in dry places in room.
3) Before the elevator is used, it should be checked if crack and over-abraded is found in
elevator and if the parts are complete and if the elevator can function normally.
4) After each operation of well-drill, the elevator should be discharged, and the segment and
link of the elevator should be Non-destructive (or Magnetic Particle) tested, and crack is
prohibited found in them. Other parts can be eye-inspection. Should any crack or
over-abraded is found, the elevator is forbidden to be used.
5) Without the technical literature offered by our company, welding the elevator is prohibited,
unless the repairer can meet the requirements of SY/T6100--94Usage and Maintenance of
Well Drilling and Hoisting Equipment, SY/T6357--1998 Inspection, Maintenance and Repair
Procedure of Hoisting Equipment and API RP 8B Recommended Method for Inspection,
Maintenance of Hoisting Equipment, the elevator can be repaired by them.
6) The structure and parts details of the Suck Rod Elevator can be found in figure 1 and
chart 2.
6. TRANSPORTATION AND STORAGE
1) The elevators should avoid collision and drenching.
2) The elevators should be stored in dry and ventilated places, sun-dry and drenching are
prohibited. And they are forbidden to contact erosive materials like acid, alkali and saline.
7. OTHERS
1) On condition that the product is normally stored and used, we responsible for exchange
for maintenance without any claim due to the manufacture quality which has interfere with
the normal usage for 12 months form the date of commissioning or 18 months from date of
shipment.
2) Each product has its Quality Certificate, Load List and Usage Instruction.
3) Customers can select our products according to the sizes, specifications and max rating
load in figure 1.
4) We can design and manufacture various non-standard elevators for our customers as well
as elevators for special purpose such as elevator used under the temperature of from -18℃
to -40℃ to satisfy our customer’s requirements.
