Dear School Administrators,
My name is Jennifer VonEye. I’m married to my husband Justin, and we have
two sons. Kaiden (10) is in fourth grade, and Austen (7) is in first grade. These two are
very busy and keep us on our toes. As a family we enjoy spending time outdoors and
watching their activities.
My family lives in Clear Lake, SD. We have been in Clear Lake since 2006, prior
to that we lived in Watertown, SD for 5 years. My hometown is Mitchell SD, home of
“The World’s Only Corn Palace.” I have three brothers. One older brother, and two
younger brothers.
I’m a Full-Time Elementary Education student at Dakota State University.
(Located in Madison, South Dakota) I have been a student at DSU since the fall of
2016. I began my student teaching journey in the fall of 2020. I will graduate from DSU
in December of 2020. Being a student at Dakota State University has been a great
experience, that has provided me with both challenges and victories.
Throughout the past several years at Dakota State University, I have had many
great experiences in the classroom and working with students. I was a substitute
teacher at the Deuel School District, in Clear Lake SD. I have had experience working
with grades Pre-Kindergarten through 12th. Substitute teaching has given me great
perspective and has really helped me develop my classroom management skills. Each
day brought a unique experience, that helped prepare me for my future as a teacher. I
have also had the opportunity to assist students as a general education
paraprofessional. This experience allowed me to help students during their math time.
With each class at Dakota State University, I have learned more about what it
means to be a great teacher. Several of my classes have included field experiences and
have allowed me to put my learning into action. I have had the opportunity to teach a
reading lesson, take a running record, and create lessons based on the student’s
needs. Each field experience brought its own learning and lessons for me to take away.
I started my student teaching experience on August 10, 2020 and will complete it
on December 22, 2020. Student teaching has been a very rewarding experience and I
look forward to what each day brings. I have seen and learned just how important good
classroom management is. I will be forever grateful to my cooperating teacher and the
students who made such a wonderful impact on my student teaching experience.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Jennifer VonEye
