violence or sex is exaggerated through huge headlines and frontpage treatment.

SUMMARY: Write 4 or more sentences describing specific learning from these notes.

Media ethical standards are crucial because of issues such as corruption, conflict of interest and sensationalism.
Those ethical issues are caused of nonperformance of ethical principles. Ethical principles consist of truth-
telling, independence, compassion and humaneness, justice, and stewardship. But following those principles
complicates by ethical dilemmas. Reporting the name of alleged narco-politician, an interviewee’s refusal to
answer questions he was not familiar with, insulting a prospective interviewee for imposing conditions on the
interviewer, the absence of context in a number of reports and conflicts of interest are the alternative choices
that make the principles difficult to attain. In the Philippines, this predicament is opted to solve by the proposed
developing programs to be offered in elementary up to tertiary level. This program is believed to make the
public familiar and observe media ethical standards.
