Music Lesson Plan

Title: Do-Re-Me Grade Level: 5th Grade

Source: Sound of Music and Elementary Music Teacher at CCDS

Materials needed:
None

Procedure:

A.S: Raise your hand if you have sang a song before? Where do you like to sing?

1. Today we are going to learn and sing a song called Do Re Mi


2. First start by learning what scale is. A scale in music is an ordered series of
notes, each of which is separated by a musical interval.
3. Now the scale of do re me
a. Do, Re, Mi, Fa, So, La, Ti, Do
4. Repeat until students get a hang of it
5. Then introduce the song
6. Sing the song once and then the second time singing it through have students
repeat back after each line
7. Then sing together and show movements for the song
8. Sing together with movements
9. Then break up parts and give a part to each student. Popcorn sing
a. Example: Jimmy sings “doe a deer a female deer”, Suzy sings “ray a
drop of golden sun”

Closure:
Can someone tell me and show me what we did for Do (Doe)? Now what about Fa
(Far)?

Educational Objective:
By the end of this lesson students will be able to sing and know the ​solfège
syllables.

Doe, a deer, a female deer


Ray, a drop of golden sun
Me, a name I call myself
Far, a long, long way to run
Sew, a needle pulling thread
La, a note to follow Sew
Tea, a drink with jam and bread
That will bring us back to Do (oh-oh-oh)
