Subject/Skill
Physical Education: Completing timed exercises while maintaining proper motor function.
Objective (s)
After warming up, students will demonstrate that they can perform a required number of
push-ups in the given timeframe while maintaining correct posture and form.
Students will demonstrate that they can perform a required number of sit-ups in the given
timeframe while maintaining correct posture and form.
Students should be able to complete and aerobic obstacle course in the given timeframe

Procedures

Students have been tested on this exercise before and must show progression.
Teacher will demonstrate exercise first, then student will be expected to perform it.
All students will be expected to test, if students have questions or concerns, they will be

concerns, they will be addressed before exercise begins.
Students will be graded on their ability to perform cool-down exercises and stretch their bodies
to increase mobility and function.
Students have been graded before and must demonstrate improvement in flexibility and
mobility.
Teacher will explain the cool-down process and demonstrate a variation of stretches first,
then students will be expected to perform them.
All students must participate. If students have questions or concerns, they will be
addressed as they perform exercise.
Materials
Teacher will need specific equipment to grade and access the students.
Stopwatch

Grouping Instructions
Students will be broken down into two groups of 10 to 12. Each group will be broken down to
smaller groups of five or six to perform the exercises. At the conclusion of the class, the students
will line up on their assigned dots and perform the cool-down exercises.
Modifications
For the Second Language Learners, there will be a student or teacher’s aide that speaks
fluent in their native language(s). This will aid in providing instruction so that every
student comprehends what is expected of them.
If there are students with behavioral issues, they will be instructed to complete additional
time for the aerobic portion of the assessment. If they continue to be insubordinate,
necessary disciplinary actions will be taken.
Assessment
As students complete the tests, they will be graded on both completion and performance. Test
administer will know if students have not improved because they will have the student’s results
written down from previous assessments. If students have not improved, they will be consulted
about their performance and receive advice on how to make the necessary improvements.
Students are encouraged to ask questions and be proactive about their health and fitness levels.
Closure
At the conclusion of this lesson, the teacher should have a better understanding of the fitness
levels of the class. The students were tested on their ability to complete push-ups and sit-ups
while being timed and their ability to finish a timed obstacle course. After the lesson, the
students will be given homework in order build on their performance. They will be provided with
an exercise log that they must initial every day and hand-in at the end of each week. The log will
consist of general exercises and information about health and diet, but some students might have
additional material based on their performance and fitness level displayed in class.
