"My favourite means of transport/ My favourite way of traveling"

There are many different means of travel, all of them have their advantages and
disadvantages. They're all suitable for different situations, places and people. I will be talking
about a couple of them and I'll highlight their pros and cons. But If I have to choose just one of
them, the best transportation for me will be a railway transport.
I'm lucky enough to have a tram very close to my home to be able to use it whenever I need to,
but not too close to disturb me in the evening or in the early morning.
I don't have to wait for too long for it to come, because there are many of them, they get me
where I need to be, fast and in comfort. Let me cover some advantages of trams:
Unlike buses, but like trolleybuses, (electric) trams give off no exhaust emissions at point of
use. Compared to motorbuses the noise of trams is generally perceived to be less disturbing.
Which lets me sleep at night thankfully. Trams can adapt to the number of passengers by adding
more cars during rush hour (and removing them during off-peak hours). No additional driver is
then required for the trip in comparison to buses. The trams that we have here usually have two
or even three cars. Which allows me to sit whenever I use them, I don't need to stand because
every seat is taken.
Multiple entrances allow trams to load faster than suburban coaches, which tend to have a
single entrance. This, combined with swifter acceleration and braking, lets trams maintain higher
overall speeds than buses, if congestion allows.
Passengers in trams are more comfortable than in buses because of controlled acceleration and
braking and curve easement. Rail transport such as used by trams provides a smoother ride than
road use by buses.
One of the biggest pros is no traffic! In general, trams provide a higher capacity service than
buses.
Speaking of disadvantages I can only say for myself that trams can be quite dirty, especially in
Ukraine, and they don't take you too far, we don't have that many tram stations. If I have to get to
the centre of the city, I'll have to use other means of transport in addition to tram to get there.
Now that I've highlighted advantages and disadvantages of a railway transportation and
explained why I love this way of transportation the most, I have to talk about my second
favourite on the list. My second favourite mean of transport is a car. I love traveling by car
whenever I can, even though I don't have a car on my own, I love going on roadtrips with my
relatives and friends.
There are some pros and cons I want to talk about concerning this specific mean of travel.
One of the things I love most about car travel is the fact you’re on one giant road trip. Travelling
by car is the most comfortable way, it goes without saying about the price and speed. You can go
where you wish, stop when and where you choose, listen to music as loud as you want, open the
windows how you want. Then, you also needn’t to reserve any tickets, you don’t have any
timetable when traveling by car, you can take as much luggage as you wish, which you have no
need to carry. You only need a map or GPS system to choose your own route, avoiding heavy
car traffic. There’s no waiting around. You just get in the car and go. Likewise, there’s no real
effort required. You just put your foot down and a few hours later you’re at your destination!
But it isn’t all good! There are pros and cons of driving a car when you’re travelling.
Let’s move on to the disadvantages of cars while travelling. Here are the major cons I’ve come
across when travelling with cars.
The first is of course the risk of car accidents. As we all know, accidents happen. And, when
you’re driving in foreign countries, the likelihood of having one can go up.
The second is potential break downs. Break downs are frustrating. They’re time consuming
and potentially expensive. If you don’t have insurance cover then you’re faced with a dilemma!
Moreover, break down somewhere remote, with little traffic, and you could be stranded for some
time.
I also have to mention how tiring it can be. As much as I love driving, long hours behind the
wheel can take their toll. And even if you're not behind the wheel and you're just a passenger, its
still tiring.
Now that I've talked about my favourite onroad means of travel I would like to discuss another
wonderful mean of transportation, in particular air travel and its pros and cons.
Air travel’s the go-to form of transportation for most travellers. I've traveled by plane only
once in my life for now, but still, it was an experience!
Let’s start with the good stuff. It’s hard to deny the ease and simplicity that comes from
travelling by air. Of course, the experience at the airport can be a little stressful sometimes.
But, all things considered, stepping onto a plane allows you to travel around the world in a
matter of hours.
The experience of air travel is one of the greatest airplane advantages.
Travelling by plane suspends you thousands of feet above the earth in a glorified metal tube with
wings. That’s noteworthy in and of itself!
I see air transport as a form of gatekeeper to adventure. There’s just something exciting about
being there. I know that it’s taking me where I want to go. And a final advantage of air transport
is the time involved.
Onto the cons of travelling by plane. It goes without saying that planes are rubbish for the
environment. They dump enormous amounts of carbon dioxide into the air, which is the exact
opposite of what we should be doing to avert global warming.
The big con for me is lack of space. I get fidgety on flights. I remember on my way back from
Paris to Kiev I was exhauted from my trip and wanted to get a nap real bad, but I couldn't,
because there was no space, it was very uncomfortable, and made sleeping challenging for me.
In today's essay I've talked a lot about my favourite means of transport and its advantages and
disadvantages and why I like it so much, though there are a lot of them, I would still stick to my
favourite, which is a railway transport, specifically a tram, but I also have to admit that
everything I need in life and every place that I need to be in, is very close to where I live,
therefore I don't need to use public transport that much. The transport that I use the most is
definitely a bicycle, and can also be considered as one of my all time favourite, especially when
the weather is good.
