EXISTING LAND USE RESIDENTIAL
The residential land use is the predominant use in Puducherry Municipality area and it covers 40% of the total area of the Puducherry Municipality
Boulevard town is one of the oldest residential settlement within the Puducherry Municipality. Residential land use remains in 40%-50% over 10
years.
RESIDENTIAL
COMMERCIAL
The commercial land use in the Puducherry Municipality accounts to 17% of the total area of the
Boulevard town . The CBD of the Puducherry region is the major contributor for the commercial
land use in this Municipality. Other than the CBD, commercial land use is observed in the eastern
part of the Boulevard town which is the French Quarters. Predominant commercial use is found
on both the sides of Anna Salai Street, East Coast Road within the Puducherry Municipality.

COMMERCIAL PUBLIC AND SEMI-PUBLIC

The Boulevard town accommodates several government offices like Governor’s Office, Chief Secretariat, Legislative Assembly,
Ministry of Finance, Department of Revenue, Public Works Department etc. Further,
It has been observed that there are good number of religious buildings like Temples, Churches & Mosques which contributes to
the mixed use of the Puducherry Municipality area.

MIXED USE

Development of mixed use creates a sustained environment. Mixed use has developed along the sub-arterial

Development is due to the increase in population growth and connectivity in respective area.
