The past few months since the COVID-19 was detected in the Philippines and in many parts of the world have been
unusually devastating. Also, as the Province and specifically the city ordered lockdown, these resulted to temporary
closure of many business establishment and churches. These are the days of abnormal fear, panic, anxiety and
hopelessness with towering ramifications on human health, financial security, social life and future goals. Fear,
loneliness and stress have become companions in homes, even Christian households. When social and spiritual
interactions are prevented, not by choice but by circumstances beyond our control, we are forced to adjust.
Consequently, doing church in these times of the COVID-19 pandemic has changed for all churches, especially in
protestant churches. This is because Protestants and congregational churches which UCCP belonged have a great affinity
for coming together to worship God in church buildings.
Closure of churches in our conference had greatly affected not only the
members, the church but most especially our church workers. Many of our
church workers serving and were assigned to small churches, receiving
honorarium, depending on Sunday offering and tithes of the members. Due to
lockdown and prohibition of having Sunday worship, honorarium of some
church workers was affected. Also, members where encourage to have
SimBalay or church at home with family, joining worship through online and
televisions. But our life as Christian continues amidst pandemic. Serving and
working with God, and connecting to our fellows and members continues
through our local church and resident pastor.

The scheduled of the Bible study is flexible, because there are times when some members requested the Pastor

thanksgiving, etc.
