INCREASE IN ECONOMIC ACTIVITY

GOVERNMENT INFRASTRUCTURE
INVESTMENT IN GDP (%)

Amid a national housing backlog estimated at 6.7 million units, this new level of economic
prosperity has allowed Filipinos to finally purchase their own homes. The current administration
has also begun implementing a program to increase investments in much-needed infrastructure,
spending as much as 7% of GDP by 2022 compared to only 2.6% in 2015. This is seen to
significantly increase economic activity. These positive growth drivers have allowed the country
to obtain investment grade rating from the major rating agencies in 2012. Today, the Philippines
has a grading of BBB+, just one notch below an A rating.
