First of all we want to know fabric details for consumption.

1. Composition
2. Fabric width & Cut able width
3. Shrinkage

Given
Fabric: 100% Cotton
Shrinkage: L3%X W 4%
Fabric Cut able width=56”
1Yardage=36”

We will consider as Mathematical term for consumption

Consumption formula:     Body Length X1/2 Chest
Fabric Cutable width X 36”
1. Now, we will calculate Body length
Length= (Body Length from HPS+ Hem Height +Allowance) Body length
=26”+ 2”+1” 19.125 YY 0.388951
=29”
Width=1/2 Chest+ Allowance 20.5

We will calculate Width

Width=Chest 1” down from Armhole +allowance
=41”+1”
=42”
Now, we will consider as shrinkage
Length=29”X3%=29.87”
Width=42”X4%=43.68”

So, we will apply formula for Body fabric Consumption

(Length X Width)X2 (for both parts)
56”X36”
29.87”X43.68X 2
56”X36”
= 1.29 Yds
Now, we will consider as wastage 5% for fabric
=1.35 yds

2. Now, we will calculate long Sleeve Consumption 8.75 YY

Length= (Muscle 1” below Armhole+ Allowance)
=13.25”+1”
=14.25”

We will calculate Width 27

Width= Sleeve length from top of sleeve+ Allowance
=24”+1”
=25”
Now, we will consider as shrinkage
Length=14.25”X3%=14.67”
Width=25”X4%=26”

So, we will apply formula for long sleeve fabric Consumption

 (Length X Width)X2 (for both parts)
56”X36”
(14.67”X26)X 2
56”X36”
= 0.37 Yds
Now, we will consider as wastage 5% for fabric
=0.39 yds
3. Now, we will calculate Cuff Consumption
Length= (Sleeve opening closure+ Allowance)
=9”+1”
=10”
We will calculate Width
Width= Cuff Height
=1.625”
Now, we will consider as shrinkage
Length=10”X3%=10.30”
Width=1.625”X4%=1.69”

So, we will apply formula for cuff fabric Consumption

 (Length X Width)X2 (for both parts)
56”X36”
10.30”X1.69X 2
56”X36”
= 0.018 Yds
Now, we will consider as wastage 5% for fabric
=0.018 yds

4. Now, we will calculate placket Consumption

Let- Placket length =21”
Length= (Placket length +Allowance)
=21”+1”
=22”
We will calculate Width
Width=1.625”
Now, we will consider as shrinkage
Length=22”X3%=22.66”
Width=1.625”X4%=1.69”

So, we will apply formula for placket fabric Consumption

(Length X Width)X2 (for both parts)
56”X36”
(22.66”X1.69)X 2
56”X36”

=  0.037Yds
Now, we will consider as wastage 5% for fabric
=0.039 yds
5. Now, we will calculate collar Consumption 9
Length= (collar length out side to side edge +Allowance)
=19.50”+1”
=20.5”
We will calculate collar height 3
Width=3”
Now, we will consider as shrinkage
Length=20.5”X3%=21.11”
Width=3”X4%=3.12”

So, we will apply formula for collar fabric Consumption

(Length X Width)X2 (for both parts)
56”X36”
20.5”X3.12X 4
56”X36”
= 0.12Yds
Now, we will consider as wastage 5% for fabric
=0.126 yds
6. Now, we will calculate pocket Consumption
Length= (Pocket length +Allowance) 13.5
=5”+1”
=6”
We will calculate pocket height
Width=5+1”=6” 8
Now, we will consider as shrinkage
Length=6”X3%=6.18”
Width=6”X4%=6.24”

So, we will apply formula for pocket fabric Consumption

(Length X Width)X4 (with flap for both parts)
56”X36” 6%
(6.18”X6.24)X 4
56”X36”
=  0.07Yds
Now, we will consider as wastage 5% for fabric
=0.0735 yds
So, total consumption of a long Sleeve Jacket=
Body +Sleeve +Cuff +Placket +Collar +Pocket
1.9974
=1.97 yds/pc
If we will consider per doz
=1.97X12
=23.72 yds
Total consumption for long sleeve jacket 1.97 yds/pc

Basic formula:
To estimate fabric consumption for a knitted top use following formula.

Consumption in grams= {(L*C) + (B*SL)}*2*GSM/10000 grams

(when length units are in centimeter)

Where,
C= Chest +allowance
L= length of the body measure + allowance
SL= Sleeve length +Allowance
B=Biceps +allowance
GSM = fabric weight in grams per square meter
