Activity Type Introduction


Speaking activity Here is a challenging category game that can be adapted to any
topic or level.

Language Focus Procedure


Categories of words
Arrange six chairs in a circle.

Invite seven students to play first. Ask six students to sit on the

chairs and one student to stand outside of the circle.

the circle then takes the vacant seat and a new student joins the
game and starts by standing outside the circle.

Alternatively, you could play this game with a different number of


students, depending on the size of the class. You could also have
all the students play with the loser standing outside the circle.
