2D Truss Load Analysis Guide

1. A structural analysis was performed on a 2D truss structure with a load applied at the center. 2. The truss was meshed and supports were applied to nodes 1 and 5, while forces of 125 N and 100 N were applied downward to nodes 2 and 3, respectively. 3. After solving the model, the total deformation was evaluated and results such as displacements and reactions were determined.

Structural Analysis of 2D truss with load at center

Note: Cross-sectional area of truss members = 3.0E-4 m2; Modulus of Elasticity = 2.07E11 N/m2. Circled
numbers shown are node numbers.
Procedure:
The steps that will be followed are
1. Geometry:
a) For sketch Select x-y plane click normal (look at)
b) Draw a sketch, click sketching
Click >sketching >line
c) After sketching make a line body.
Concept > line from sketches > line 1 > sketch 1 > click line of sketch > generate
d) Give cross-section to line body.
Select concept > cross-section > circular > dimension > 0.1m > click line body > detail view >
cross section > circular 1
e) Cross the working area.
2. Model:
a) Mesh the line body.
Right click on the mesh > generate > mesh
b) Click detail of mesh to perform sizing.
Mesh > sizing > relevance center > fine
3. Setup:
a) Apply support on the line body
Click on static > support > fixed support
b) To fix supports of node 1, node 5
Click vertex > node 1 > apply (detail)
Click vertex > node 5 > apply (detail)
c) Apply load (force)
d) Apply 125, 100 newton force downward on node 2, node 3
Click > load > force > node 2 > apply vector > change into component > magnitude 125N >
click load > force > node 3 > apply vector> change into component > magnitude 100N >
e) After applying the force
Click static structure > right click > solve
4. Solution:
a) To get the solution of 2d truss
Right click on solution > insert > deformation > total
b) To evaluate the all result
Right click > solution > evaluate all result.
5. Result:
a) To get the result
Click > total deformation
b) For getting report
Click > report preview
c) To save the file
Click > publish.
