Graphic Organizer

The document outlines the development of art forms in the Philippines through a timeline. It shows how early art discoveries like flake tools and shells fashioned into tools and ornaments represent the earliest man's presence. It then transitions to discuss prominent sculptors and their works that symbolized ideals like freedom and academic freedom. The timeline also notes the introduction of styles like pop art, abstractionism, and minimalism in the mid-20th century as well as the growth of art illustration, advertising, and commercial design. It concludes by explaining how the Cultural Center of the Philippines provided artists a venue for experimentation and how social realism became a theme for commenting on the country's politics.

This is a graphic organizer that serves as a timeline for the multiple art forms which existed in the
Philippines. This also serves as a process to how Philippine contemporary arts were formed as we
know it today. Art genres and different art forms were not made overnight but through accumulation
of important, necessary events and happenings. In order to appreciate and explain the different art
forms, creating a timeline in which it states when a certain art was created is a necessity.

The reason for why I used a timeline is because I believe that the only way to understand why an art
was created the way it was created is to understand its history and its context. Art is inseparable with
history and the only way to explain why the genre and technique of our contemporary art is to also
learn the history which propels it.
